Why the Kia e-Niro was such a success

Branded as “the UKs best affordable electric car” when it was reviewed by Auto Express, the Kia e-Niro was a huge success when it came out. Originally available as a hybrid, the now facelifted ‘Niro EV’ (as it’s currently known) is only available as an all-electric car. The first model was popular, very popular, with journalists and consumers alike really taking to this car and for good reason. Kia are looking to continue this with their latest version of the car. But in this post, I’m going to focus on the one that made them a serious contender in the electric car space, the earlier ‘e-Nir ..read more

The smarter way to lease a car.  Is it really though?  We’re all about car subscriptions at elmo, it’s our thing, but what if you’re new to the concept or aren’t sure if it’s right for you? What are the drawbacks? We’ll go through and unpick the car subscription, honestly, so you can make an informed decision for yourself. One of our Polestar 2 electric cars on show at the British Motor Show in 2022.  What is a car subscription? Let’s start from the very beginning (a very good place to start, etcetera). Albeit a familiar concept in entertainment, subscriptions for cars are s ..read more

When it comes to storage space, it seems to be the one thing there’s never enough of – whether it’s at home or in your car. Extra boot room can be really useful for carrying around sports equipment, getting the weekly shop back home or ferrying around children, friends and family. There are few things more stressful than packing for a family holiday only to realise that you can’t quite fit all the suitcases (and passengers) in the car.  With modern electric cars now purpose-built from the ground up, there’s no longer the need for compromised conversions from petrol-powered counterparts ..read more

I knew the ZOE would make a good four-wheeled companion, but I wasn’t expecting to ‘miss’ it quite as much as I do. Last year, after weeks of begging, the boss let me borrow a FIAT 500e for a month. It was bright pink (I was very pleased). It had wireless Apple CarPlay for my tunes, was seriously cute and SO much fun to drive. Oh, and it charged quickly as well which was good news because I can’t charge a car at home. In my head, at the time, it was by far and away the best small electric car you could get for the money. This year though they’ve let me loose on a Renault ZOE and, well, now I ..read more

Elmo Blog
by Jess Parrilla

For many years, sustainability has been a major concern for businesses and consumers alike. In the UK, the average business uses between 15,000 and 25,000 kWh of energy every year. This is around the same amount of energy used by nine average family homes. Similarly, it’s estimated that businesses produce 43.9 million tonnes of waste, which accounts for a quarter of all waste in the UK. So, how can companies be more sustainable? This includes lowering the amount of waste they produce and the energy they use to decrease their carbon footprint. In this post, we’re going to explore the ways bu ..read more

Elmo Blog
by Stéphanie Quadranti

It’s no secret that buying and leasing a car can be expensive and offer a lack of flexibility. Providing your employees with the option to sign up for a salary sacrifice scheme gives them a more affordable and flexible way to drive a brand-new car. By sacrificing a portion of their pre-taxed earnings – at zero net cost to your organisation – your employees could save anywhere between 30-60% on the cost of subscribing to or leasing a car. It also positions you as an employer that values its employees and helps you attract and retain top industry talent. But what are the best salary sacrifice ..read more

Elmo Blog
by Josh Bowness

There are two reasons why you may look for an answer to the question is salary sacrifice worth it? You’re an employer considering offering it as a perk to your employees. You’re an employee and you’re considering taking advantage of a salary sacrifice scheme your employer offers. Whichever of the above you fall into, the answer to the question is a resounding yes, followed by a slightly more muted but… Because yes, salary sacrifice is worth it, but it also depends entirely on what you’re looking for and your circumstances. In this post, we’re going to expand on the yes but, and explain h ..read more
