I assume most of my Does have had 6 teats in total, but a while ago I bought a REW Doe that ended up having 7
Right now I have her two daughters that have their own Kits, I got one out and noticed she had 8! I checked her sister and she had 7 too, I also checked my Britannia Petite Doe but she only has 6
I'm guessing this is a genetic thing? It's really cool either way ..read more

Rabbitry has solid concrete floor.
Hanging cages used without pans.
Would it be better to:
A) Use a sloped metal sheet between the cages and the floor to direct the urine and manure to a collection point and empty daily.
--or--
B) Put several inches of woodchips on the floor to absorb the urine and replace regularly?
--or--
C) Just use pans underneath.
--or--
D) Consider using a different building that has a dirt floor ..read more

If hanging cages are used over a concrete floor and no pans are used would it be better to have a sloped drain sheet put under the cages which would direct the urine to run into a bucket, or would it be best to put several inches of woodchips under the cages to absorb the urine?
In either scenario the bucket would be empted daily or the woodchips would be removed regularly ..read more

This is embarrassing, I'll preface my story with the obvious. I'm brand spanking new to showing rabbits, and like many others, I grew up familiar showing large animals. I am very familiar with using blue shampoo and natural whiteners, none which ever BLEACH the animal, but cleaning stains has been a constant battle with goats, horses, and cattle. I have a white rabbit and his feet were more yellow than I desired them to be for his first show and I wanted to make my absolute best effort to...

I wasn't sure if this fits better in "feeding" or "cages".
I have my giant Grow-Out cage, which we made out of wire, and we made our latches and doors. It's a pain in the butt to open and close doors.
That's fine. BUT this last set of grow-outs we seemed to struggle to keep them full of feed and it disturbed their growth rate and I think they were quite stressed out (heat didn't help). One set started pulling out each other's hair!
I want to make a feed system that holds enough that...

So, I really excited to start breeding. We now have 3 Tamuk composite sisters (16 weeks). At least sold that way. We got a 7 month old male new zealand and a 13 week female new zealand. We've been gathering them since the end of July.
I finally got a scale and I'm quite disappointed and wondering if I made a mistake. I'm hoping culling for harvest size and breeding up will help. Worried I'll need to find new stock. Out of the sisters, the largest is 6 lbs. The other 2 are 5. The new...

Hello all,
I just got a trio a few months ago and one of the does was not old enough to breed yet. I have looked at several websites to find a safe age to breed her and it seems like all the websites suggest different ranges of age. She is a Californian and will be 5 months old here in the next week. Has anyone bred at this age or should I wait a few months still ..read more
