I would like to know the opinions of the fellow BHs on this matter.
Let me give you some examples of my family
1. My Dad - Lived very frugally, owned his business, saved more than enough for retirement and died of sudden heart attack at 62 yrs of age. Mom has a lot of money but can't spend it now because she doesn't feel like it. Her regrets - when she wanted to spend on 'kids, clothes, travel' etc. in their youth, she couldn't as dad didn't let her and now she doesn't have any wish to spend...

I've watched a lot of the meal prep videos, and it seemed like an all day operation shopping, prepping, cooking, and then freezing.
The new trend is just putting the raw ingredients in a freezer bag in the freezer, thawing it overnight, dumping it in a crockpot with water, broth, coconut milk, etc, and leaving it to cook all day.
I hadn't done the meal preps before because it seemed like a lot of work, but this seemed doable.
Since the meals were for six people, I split the recipe into...

What is your personal best for consuming products beyond their "best before" date?
I think this is mine - it just had its 10-years anniversary!
The container was not opened until a month ago or so, so it had been sealed for about 10 years.
(I'm not advocating consumption of dangerously out-of-date foods, of course, but I think this cinnamon should be safe! It smells and tastes just fine, at least ..read more

I have not had an organized pantry. I've seen in videos the almost miltary precision of some people's pantries. Mine doesn't look like that.
My pantry has stuff pushed in there with no order. I have pasta, canned goods, baking supplies, sauces, oils, etc., just jammed in there all over the place.
I decided to tackle the problem when I got a free bag of cornmeal in this month's Badger Box. I had to take every single thing out of my pantry looking for baking powder, and then realizing it...

I don't have one close to me, so whenever I go up north to visit my daughter, I load up the car. My daughter was a little snooty about it, but changed her my mind when she saw the prices. She was pretty surprised that a bag of Dot's pretzels ($6.99 in stores: $2.99 at past date) was 5 months past the bag date, and wasn't even stale.
You have to look at the dates on snacks, crackers, cereal (2021 was a little too old for me), etc., but on the canned and bottled stuff it lasts years beyond...

People have been reporting finding Beyond patties and sausage for $1.25 at Dollar Tree. I might take a trip over and see if my local store has any.
I went into my local Kroger/Metro Market and found big price reductions on Beyond chick'n nuggets and sausages. $3.50 per package. It was cheaper than Morningstar. I hadn't had fast food items in a while because it was too expensive.
I wouldn't mind a little price war on the pricier vegan items ..read more

Theses stores have been opening all over the U.S. You walk in and the front part of the store is their own clothing line of pretty reasonable and attractive clothing. Then you go in the back and there is rack after rack of high end clothing that is selling for almost nothing. I asked and they told me that the store's owners are the manufacturers for all of the high end clothing stores like Macy's, Nordstrom's, and Maurice's. They said any over stock is sent to the stores.
I was checking...
