Would anyone who has worked on film production in a studio answer this form for my A-Level Product Design research?

I am currently doing research into film studios in order to aid my design for my A-Level Product Design NEA for which I am creating a sustainable film studio that focuses on the reintegration of human design. It would be greatly appreciated if anyone who has worked on a film set or has contacts in the industry could so that they could fill out and spread this form to help advance my research for my final design. It is all anonymous and should only take 10 minutes or so. I have tried emailing professionals directly but of course they don’t reply. Link to form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e ..read more

Where can I find an apartment studio to shoot our movie (Atlanta)

Hello fellow filmmakers, I'm currently working on the budget of my next short film, intended to be produced in Atlanta. The thing is I have been checking in different websites for an apartment studio but I have found only two kinds of options: the 1 month rentals and the 1 hour for $100. What I'm looking for is an apartment to shoot (and hopefully stay) for 2 weeks in Atlanta. We don't have a specific neighborhood in mind and we're looking for reasonable prices. Do you know a website to find this kind of place? Or an email/phone number to reach out for guidance? Here is the webpage of my n ..read more

Filmmakers who went to film school: What did it change for you (Good and Bad)?

Hi guys, I'm Filip, and have been making my short films since I was 13. My style of filmmaking was always very spontaneous and I never focused on stuff like scriptwriting, lighting, camera, as much as just creating and editing. And I always wondered: Am I missing something with this approach? Because traditional and current filmmaking always does all this very seriously. Like, most of the filmmaking community talks about cameras and lighting and I personally never really do. And I wanna ask. Does film school change someone's style of filmmaking like this? And if it changed you like this ..read more

I've been wondering lately how foreign tv shows get made in domestic markets, such as the office. Does it go through the same pitching process as any other show or does a network get in contact with the other country's network to get it made ..read more

Is it ok to make a fictional movie about school violence?

Where I got my inspiration is from Run Hide Fight from 2020 and Class of 1999 (starring Bradley Gregg) of 1990. Before you make any smart remarks, let me explain this carefully and please view this from the autism spectrum - I'm autistic. Even though my Blender-made movie contains explosions and shootings taking place within a school - not to mention some murdering of some characters, it's merely special effects, makeups, etc. Although the year of this movie, Class of 1999, is somewhat ironic to Columbine Massacre, it's in absolutely no way related to Columbine. Even though there are expl ..read more

One Location Challenge

A while back, I was challenged by a producer with some real connections but had a specific need who asked, 'Do you have a script or creative idea that unfolds in a single place but is still creatively mind-blowing?' A movie in one location? Isn't that a play? Is that possible? I had a pretty good idea and I was able to get it kind of far in the Hollywood pipeline (bit fizzled out like 99.9999% of all H-Wood ideas) but it made me think, that challenge is more relevant than ever. What about you? It's not all about space ships and grand manors. Do you have anything artistically stunning yet stra ..read more

What Are Some Tips For Efficiency (saving $) In Doing A Film?

This review of a cool, new murder-com, Murder & Cocktails reminds me of other small-budget movies, like Blair Witch Project ($60K budget, earned $246 million), and Easy Rider (only cost about $400K to make). But with today’s tiny cameras and more tricks, Ron Jackson produced Murder & Cocktails for less than $100K! Check out this review of the movie and how he pulled it off! https://rb.gy/agryjo Show itself debuts Jan. 23 on all major streaming services like Amazon Prime, Apple TV, iTunes, Google Play ..read more

Showing emails on screen

I'm looking for interesting ways to show emails on screen in a documentary. I can print them out and then do a shallow depth of field thing, focusing on the lines I want to emphasize, or I can shoot a computer screen - also shallow depth of field and maybe show pixels. Or I can animate the graphics, maybe show typing on screen or something more than just a yellow highlight and slightly moving images. Does anyone have any ideas of how to make this more dynamic and interesting? Any examples from a movie or documentary or show ..read more

Consider a Micro Film

I’m of the opinion that a good way to get your film off the ground is to start small. 'Whiplash' started as a micro film (Google ‘Whiplash short film’), a proof of concept that not only tested the waters but also became a catalyst for the feature film. Instead of shooting an entire short film or something of significance, consider shooting just one scene. Choose a key scene and focus on quality over quantity and just nail that one segment. It’s a powerful tool for testing, refining, and selling a vision. Something to consider… It also helps if JK Simmons is on board but that is a discussion fo ..read more
