My Baby Kitty of 15 Years

He passed away but always at the beginning of my day and through the night, he comforted me. He would directly lay his head on my pillow facing me and put his paw in my hand and go to sleep and if his ears perked up I knew he heard something but if he laid back down I felt safe. At the end of my day he was my GO-TO kitty. I don't like the way it happened because he just stopped eating, drinking and going to the bathroom, all together. I was not one to assume he was constipated again... My Baby Kitty of 15 Years ..read more

How Many Of You Have Cats That Understand Words?

The other day I was reading somewhere that cats don't understand words. But I have a cat now and I had a cat years ago that both understood - "Do you want to be brushed?" Both of them love(d) to be brushed. I would ask the question often without the brush in sight and they do (did) come running over to me. Even if I said a word that sounded like "Brushed" they do (did) look at me intently and would just perk up. I think cats must understand a lot more words than they let on. Just... My 16 yo CKD kitty was prescribed Amlodipine for hypertension at 1/4 of a 2.5 tablet per day. For the first few days all was fine and he ate normally. Now that it’s been about 10 days, his appetite seems to be waning. Has anyone experienced appetite issues with this drug ..read more

Hello, on May 11th my kitten got spayed. The vet told my parents and I all the information about how to help her healing process. I am always listening to the vets and following their advice but my parents do their own thing and follow what they feel is right for the cats, however this cat is MINE. I’m at work full time so it’s hard to monitor if my parents are following the healing procedures for her. They started to take her cone off and will monitor when she licks herself however it seems... Daisy not only reminded me it was time for her Special Drink aka morning dose of Osmolax (she loves that stuff and drinks it out of the mixing spoon) but supurrvised me while I was replenishing Mum’s pills for the week. She’s a pawdiologist, too - has to check I’m doing it right when I put new batteries in Mum’s hearing aids. I don’t know how I’d manage without her! (And for relaxation she gets involved in my knitting ..read more

Should I take these kittens in?

A stray mother had kittens in my yard two months ago. Two of the five survived until now. They both have thick green discharge coming out of their eyes as well as flea infestations but other than that they are acting fine. The other issue is the pitbull wandering the streets. The owner lets the dog out knowing full well it has already killed both kittens and cats and does not care. Animal control wont help me at all and just hangs up on me now. I had to pick the kittens up twice today... Should I take these kittens in ..read more

Hey everyone, my sister in law told me she found a kitten at her work. She said there was no mom to be found but they did find another kitten that has sadly already passed away. I told her to bring him to my house. He’s got goo in his eyes but seems quite lively. I don’t know how old he is or if he still needs kitten formula. I can tell he’s a boy. I had some high calorie squeezable treats that are for newborn kittens and some wet kitten food that I gave him. I put him in a crate inside our... Urgent help needed! Cat keeps ripping scab off her head

My cat somehow scratched a small chunk of skin off her head a few days ago, but had the wound set into a scab within a day. It's been healing up nicely, but out of nowhere I noticed she'd reopened the cut and it was bleeding again. I think she keeps reopening the wound when she rubs her head against things around the house, which she does constantly to get my attention. She's able to get out of cones very easily, so coning her is not the best option. As far as rubbing her head on things... Cat keeps ripping scab off her head ..read more
