My summary: Mitochondria are organelles in the hundreds or thousands inside of most cells. They create energy (ATP) in a process called Cellular Respiration. Every living organism consists of cells that rely on ATP for their energy needs. ATP is made by converting the food we eat into energy. It's an essential building block for all life forms. Without ATP, cells wouldn't have the fuel or power to perform functions necessary to stay alive, and they would... High Fat Diet Given to Mice Caused Reduced Capacity to Burn Fat ..read more

Dr. Sara Pugh (Ph D), explains health and weight loss in a relatively easy to understand way. Her presentation filled in a few gaps in my knowledge that hopefully will make a difference. Here's my very short summary of her presentation. Our mitochondria need electrons to make ATP (energy). You get electrons from sunlight, from grounding, and from food. (There are other methods, but I'm keeping it simple.) If you are low on electrons, you will have low energy. Low energy makes you more... If nothing Else Has Worked Long Term ..read more

I have always wanted to learn Tai Chi, but it is not easy to find classes. There are many videos on Youtube, but the ones I like best for getting started are a series by Leia Cohen under the channel name TaiFlow. I am displaying the 1st video in her 5 minutes a day series. There are also many other videos that go into different aspects of Tai Chi on her channel. Try the first video. If you are already in good shape, you will find it too... A couple of months ago, I decided to reset my appetite and lose a few pounds in the process. I usually only eat two meals a day but also snack during the night when I can't sleep. I always get tired or lethargic after eating midday. So I decided to reduce the sweets and cut back to just dinner. I worked hard at keeping busy and drinking lots of water. I even cut out my morning coffee because I like it sweet. Two weeks of that and my appetite was reset. I did not restrict any foods and just... I did a appetite and metabolism reset ..read more

I just could not get back into the yoga thing that I started this spring, and yet I NEED to exercise if I am going to be able to work outside next year. I am going to move a spare dresser downstairs-and wont THAT be a chore- so that I can set up the treadmill where it was. Also paint. And the bookshelf should also be moved and I do not believe that we need to keep my son's Harry Potter books and old assignment papers. All of my small projects seem to become large ones, LOL! Though to... On cyber Monday I ordered a treadmill ..read more

RIP nephew, age 43. He had a heart attack. I think that I am going to try cutting my carb intake in half. I cannot cut them out entirely as my blood sugar goes too low as well as too high, but I can reduce them. And so, this morning I had an avocado with my diabetes meds instead of crackers. I am NOT going to enjoy this. John was a good man, and he will be missed ..read more

In just 7 minutes, Peter Attia gives what I think is the best explanation of why some obese people can't lose weight, even when eating the appropriate level of calories. This is not new information, but the way Peter packages it makes it simple to understand. How to address it is a different issue ..read more
