2019 is so last year. Stylishly late as ever, I actually wrote this article before Christmas but was struck down with a chest infection before I could get it finished. But we aren’t bound by a deadline here – there is plenty of time to look back on the highlights of the before 2019 fully fades from memory. Indeed it was an interesting year for our beloved Robots in Disguise. Siege dominated everything, G1 reissues dropped ultra obscure Japanese tapes into Walmart, Studio Series released another 5000 versions of that same Bayverse Optimus Prime we get every year, Masterpiece holidayed in Costa ..read more

A great many people have articulated, through countless eloquent quotes, ways to describe that feeling of a dream finally coming true. Inspiring words that tap into the deepest feelings of hope and desire as they warmly hug your soul. When this happened to me there was no deep, thoughtful, reflective, insight to be found. No – I burst into the theme from Jurassic Park. DA DA DA DA DADADADADA. I love Transformers. This news should be less surprising than finding out that Batman likes capes, but one of my greatest loves is Jurassic Park. Dinosaurs, Isla Nublar, Laura Dern, Mr DNA, We’ve got Dodg ..read more

Hasbro knows how to make me spend money. Sure, that’s about as shocking a revelation as finding out Madonna actually died in 1993 and has been a Batman-like mantle passed on to generations of ex Top of the Pops presenters, but even I’ve been confused by how casually I’ve picked up “Earth Mode” versions of retired Siege Transformers toys. Mirage here is an excellent example. Nobody is as surprised as me that I bought this toy, because when the shipping notification from Hasbro Pulse popped up in my emails, it was the first I knew of it – or so I thought. All I can think of is that at some point ..read more

Back in 1985, one of the many mysteries surrounding the Transformers that would tantalise the imaginations of children was – “why is Tracks red on the back of the box art mural?” Or at least it did me. As a grown-up I know that the answer is of course that it was using the original Diaclone colour scheme (if you want to know more about red Track’s origins then check out TFSquareone’s excellent article right here) but the exotic idea of that Corvette Stingray toy in red has always stuck with me. Hasbro and Takara have taken it a step further over the years and released most versions of Tracks t ..read more

Welcome to 2021! Happy New Year…..wait – it’s July?! Where has the year gone? England got to a European Championship final? He-Man came back but people were more upset over Teela’s haircut? I’d better go back to sleep…. I jest! It’s been a busy year. I haven’t written much content for this site but that doesn’t mean I’ve just been sat around with my feet up, sipping a glass of rum and Dr Pepper. Earlier this year myself, Sixo and TFSquareone started a podcast! So if you want to hear my actual voice talking about Pat Sharp’s mullet, rather than scrawling it here, then you can find the Triple Ta ..read more

Review: Transformers War For Cybertron Trilogy “Netflix” Bumblebee

What a funny old world. Just a couple of years ago Transformers fans were exhausted by the bi-annual deluge of Bumblebee toys that would clog toy shelves across the globe. Oversaturated, overexposed, overloaded – we begged for a break from the horn headed nightmare. Hearing our pleas, Hasbro kept him out of the fan bait Generations toyline, all the time asking themselves – “how do you take a character as overused as Bumblebee and make him as desirable as a COVID vaccine?” Their answer? Buy a car manufacturer license, release him right near Christmas and make him a store exclusive. Far from rol ..read more
