The Alchemy is my bf's favorite song from TTPD and I've been listening to it a lot. There is a line in there that seemed kinda of throw away
What if I told you I'm back?
The hospital was a drag
Worst sleep that I ever had
I circled you on a map
I haven't come around in so long
But I'm coming back so strong
Than I was listening to some New Heights shorts and in one of the clips of Travis talking about Taylor going to her first chief's game, his brother asked jokingly:
"How's it feel that Taylor Swift has finally put you on the map?"
...
I feel like such a dork for noticing it... but also so ..read more

I was listening to Peter today and realized that it was in 6/8. I always like it when artists differ from the common time, and I remember songs like Sad Beautiful Tragic, Dear John, and Last Kiss also being in some form of thirds. So, I was wondering if there are any other songs on TTPD that vary from this pattern.

I’ll start.
Am I into it? No, not really. Do I wake up with it in my brain bopping along?

So High School.

She starts with a “call” that apparently was the beginning of a fallout. Probably when she was told what was happening.
Later, the chorus of the song is “So they killed Cassandra first cause she feared the worse and tried to tell the town”. What I take from this: She saw there was something off going on with Scooter and tried warning other people from the industry (what she calls “the town”).
Then she says “Do you believe me now?”, “When it’s burn the bitch, they are shrinking, when the truth comes out it’s quiet”. So at some point people started realizing there was actually something off wit ..read more

For me, it’s Down Bad.
It matches in the sense that I have literally cried at the gym and felt down bad for a guy. I went through the motions of “f you if I can’t have us” and feeling like I’d been returned to my boring old life after he told me “I was the chosen one”.
He literally told me that he “was not looking for a relationship and would not get into one with anyone else” but was supposedly making an exception for me.
Some songs of Taylor’s are eerie sometimes in how well they match a situation or relationship I’ve been through, I was wondering if anyone wanted to share any song that had ..read more

I’ve figured it out. This is the vibe of the album. We’ve got cowboy vibes (FOTS, ICFHNRIC, BDILH, Florida!!!, Guilty as Sin?, WAOLOM) and we’ve got alien vibes (Down Bad, SLL, ICDIWABH).
What other connections have you guys made with TTPD and other pop culture/themes?

Not sure if anyone else can relate, but listening to "Guilty as Sin?" from a queer person's perspective hits different for me (pun intended lol), especially as someone who grew up religious.
For example, these lines really resonate with me: “I keep these longings locked
In lowercase inside a vault
Someone told me
There's no such thing as bad thoughts
Only your actions talk.”
So many queer people are taught to repress who they are / who they love, to "keep [their] longings locked...inside a vault." Also, the "no such thing as bad thoughts / only actions" line reminds me of certain Christians w ..read more
