Hello all   I could really use some help identifying the roots of my guitar. My brother has a friend who works at the local refuse centre and one day brought home a guitar which now belongs to me but I cannot for the life in me find any information on this guitar.   On the headstock it says "Parkinson Leigh, Lancs"...    ANY information on this guitar or the people who made it would be greatly appreciated.    Thanks in advance   Matthew ..read more

Spotted a Chapman ML3 modern on facebook marketplace at a good price last weekend so pulled the trigger and absolutely loved it.   So much so I bought an ML1 Pro this weekend  ( I really do need a bigger house !)   This is one of the best looking and playing guitars I've owned (it's so bassy !)even when compared to custom build territory like my Ambler. Now I need the green sparkly semi - hollow one and a baritone to complete the collection !     ..read more

Hello all   I’m a bass player of 35 years experience here fed up with people saying “oh you play guitar play as a tune” My aim is to be proficient enough to twang through a few numbers for the bucket list. The time is now. I bought a dirt cheap Tele cos it looked cool. Not the best decision especially with my dumpy fingers, Dunno why I did it when people ask me about basses I always say but the best you can afford lol    So what do peeps reccomend ?   new or SH my budget is £300 to £500 i convincing “classic rock” rhythm tone is the only must have.  ..read more

Hi all. Have the opportunity to get a lovely 1988 Yamaha sa1100 in black or.......for substantially more, a 22 Yamaha sa2200.  How over the years have these guitars changed? From what I can gather the craftsmanship has always generally been impeccable but Im anxious to know any differences subtle or not so between the 2 guitars.  Your guidance is appreciated.   ..read more

Acoustic vs plugged in or archtop

I have a problem with pure acoustic vs plugged in tones.   Due to my arthritis progressing at a steady rate I have decided to start a new band before I run out of time... We ideally want to be an acoustic band sitting in the back of the pub or restaurant, playing at a garden party or event, or busking, open mic night or jam sessions. The band make up is one vocalist, myself on guitar and another on accordion, both of us doing accapella type backing to add extra melody, basslines etc as required. We are attempting to play a variety of well known material in a broadly americana style veerin ..read more

A 5 year old Taylor Grand Pacific 517e in wild honey burst finish. Spruce and mahogany body ebony fretboard. The builders edition results in rounded edges to the body and fretboard and the back of the neck is shaped so the profile changes towards the body end which is supposed to make it easier to play higher up the neck.    ..read more

So this finally arrived. Weighing in at 7 pounds and 4 ounces. It's very nice, some people will hate it, some people will say it's not an exact replica (I know it isn't) It has an enormous neck and plays beautifully I waited 18 months for it and get to gig it tomorrow and Sunday   ..read more
