Yeah....that solo absolutely blew my freaking mind the 1st time I heard it, and rightfully put Blackmore into a category all his own, among other guitarists.Just on a whole other level both technically and feel wise. Very eerie yet uplifting, and super intense. Just imagining his fingers doing it was a revelation. The build up to the crescendo was very dramatic and seemingly very well orchestrated, yet had a loose and improvisatory feel to it..... The whole performance by the band was sublime & impeccable, no one really does stuff like that anymore. The fact that Ritchie just nonc ..read more

Interesting. I never would've guessed that Angus used his wireless unit in the studio and that it's part of his tone.   It's kind of like Iommi and May with the Treble Booster, or Ritchie with his Awia tape machine. These things all acted like preamps and added to their sounds in the days of single gain stage amps.      Yeah. I get a kick when people will argue ad nauseam that EVH didn't use an overdrive pedal and that the sound of VH1 is a stock Marshall. And somehow nobody mentions the gain stage added by the Echoplex's preamp on front...     Statistic ..read more

Agreed re NYC,  the plan was for a fast train day return but even that to me seems bonkers,  passed on your advice to Annie…..who grudgingly understands!   So……another trip and will definitely flag up when coming!   The stupid Acella train only knocks an hour off of driving time and costs more than flying. 3 hours by train. If they could make it a two hour train trip they'd have something worth considering. The train itself can go faster, but the old tracks can't handle higher speeds. This is America. We can't have nice things like high speed rail.   Statistics ..read more

Also I gather residing in Holland Park….. Adele, Richard Branson,  the Beckhams, Simon Cowell!    Gulp….! Points re Boston duly noted!  I guess we’ll cope for a week or so!  Also….. understand will be right in the city centre,  so everything walkable and no accommodation costs which will help. Agreed re NYC,  the plan was for a fast train day return but even that to me seems bonkers,  passed on your advice to Annie…..who grudgingly understands!   So……another trip and will definitely flag up when coming! Huh, mine has locking tuners, came stock      Are they made by Ibanez? Do they have an Ibanez stamp on them? They're probably Gotos's licensed by Ibanez.      True, they're not Ibanez, they are Gotoh's, but they came stock on the guitar. I never got the "it has a locking nut, so no need for locking tuners" mindset that guitar companies have. As far as I'm concerned, every guitar should have locking tuners, but that's just me. I have 'em on every guitar I own, locking nut or not. And....that's a badass Satch guitar. Always loved those MCP JS ..read more
