Elektro Vox
by Canis Lewis
1M ago
Welcome back to 'On our Sensors!' Presenting you with new releases in February and a few before that, as well as great tracks or albums that are new to me that I have been enjoying, whether older or new - found in the 'Discoveries' section. (The discovery section in this one will be larger than usual as it's three months worth of discoveries rather than one and therefore I wont have time to write individually on each inclusion again.) Finishing off with my personal top 3 tracks I've been listening to in the last month. Also worth remembering is that I don't just cover the electronic alternati ..read more

Welcome back to 'On our Sensors!' Presenting you with new releases from December and January (Maybe a couple of November ones too) Being a double month article, I won't have time to write something from me personally about every single inclusion this time round but will do so where no band blurb has been presented. Especially as my list to get through is large. I will also have to leave my new discoveries and favourites out and include them next time as having just included all of the new releases below, I then realised I had almost as many discoveries to add in.. NOPE, will have to work on t ..read more

At Slimelight's 36th Birthday anniversary I interviewed Soman, and about a week later caught up with Rotersand online which turned in to a fantastic insight in to their mindset. Big thank you to Zero Day promotions and the band for putting on such a fantastic show. Soman https://youtu.be/6VXW7SS2V1E?si=61McdAJCE-3sONVc Soman played a great set at the Slimes pre-show and took some time before hand to tell me about what's next for his music, which tracks mean the most to him, the meaning of the name, and some other interesting bits. We were at the back of the cloakroom talking just as doors ope ..read more

Album Review: Seraphim System - Excessive Force. Ten Year Anniversary Edition.
Elektro Vox
by Canis Lewis
6M ago
Seraphim System has been a big part of Elektro Vox these last (almost) 5 years, I've covered his music probably more than any other artist on this site. The reason? I still stand by the fact that this man is an absolute musical genius. There are plenty of supremely skilled and talented individuals out there but add in how fast John Stancil is at creating whatever track he puts his mind to or is asked to, (Be it a challenge, or a remix another artist needs) and you have one of the most impressive beasts in all of alternative electronic/Industrial. I hold Seraphim System as highly as I do in th ..read more

On our sensors - New releases, discoveries, and favourite tracks - Oct 2023
Elektro Vox

It's been a while since I've done one of these but with the tsunami of releases recently as well as dozens of new artist or older discoveries popping up in my playlist and inboxes - Singling even a small amount of them in to individual articles is a task fit only for Sisyphus or a much larger team than just myself. So I'm going to give new life to the 'On our sensors' article. This will present you with new releases, not just for the month they are written but possibly a bit further back than that if I've missed something noteworthy. In that same spirit, if I have come across a great track or ..read more

Interview+Single Review: grabyourface - Haine X Guillotine
Elektro Vox
by Canis Lewis
7M ago
grabyourface is an artist I've covered a few times over the last year, Marie has won the hearts of the UK Goth scene these past couple of years and that success and new found fan growth seems to be spreading fast, finding an incredibly welcoming response at whatever festival they play at. This double single release of Haine (Hate) and Guillotine personifies grabyourface better than ever before. GYF is known for two things in their music - Sorrow and Rage. This dark electronic offering presents these two often very different aspects of their style in to one; with the sorrow and confusion under ..read more

Mini Single Review: Kuro - Wake Up And Choose Violence
Elektro Vox
by Canis Lewis

Kuro is back with a vengeance. Known for their poignant and aggressive messages born of a strong sense of justice, and in this country's case.. Injustice. The theme here is protest, the subject of that protest? Everything that is wrong right now. From the attacks on Trans rights, the shit show that was/is Brexit, the lack of equality, sex work prejudice, religious corruption, the degradation of human rights, capitalism, and much more; All the things that genuinely affect people's lives and make it harder to just exist - let alone safely and peacefully. You can find the music video in the revi ..read more

Single Review: RED MEAT - Providence
Elektro Vox
by Canis Lewis
7M ago
You remember that kick ass track in the original Resident Evil film that brawled its way on to screen when the assault team first breached the mansion and again as the laser corridor defence lit up? Well 'Providence' hit me with that same gut churning satisfaction of 'Fuck that's cool!' I just wrote a short piece on RED MEAT'S performance at Infest which you can read HERE. This two single release is spicy. Rhys' anger, passion, and love for what he makes is plastered all over this soundscape and it's one that I have heard high praise about all round. So it's about time I wrote it up myself! S ..read more
