Where do you buy your acrylic and other cutting materials?

Not really a 3D printing question but somewhat adjacent: For laser cutting people, where do you normally get your supply of acrylic and other cutting materials? I have a local spot, and I'm aware of TAP Plastics as a known good source. I also know that Amazon has a bunch for cheaper, and I'll be trying some of that to check for quality. For reference, prices I've seen for 1/8" thick 18"x24" cast acrylic sheets are usually around $12.50 (Amazon) to about $25 (TAP Plastics and my local... Read more ..read more

Hi everyone, I've been loving my Ender 3 S1 Pro. Its been a real beast and I did a couple of bed upgrades that have been icing on the cake. Wondering if others have done any upgrades or Marlin tweaks? There is some software stuff I'd like to do. and hopefully one day would love to make the heat brake fan more silent. It's a great printer though out of the box though. If you wanna collab on firmware upgrade stuff or have any tips, lmk ..read more

My PLA, which I store in bins with tons of dessicant packages, has started breaking like crazy as it's gotten colder. I finally caved and bought the Sunlu S2 dryer / dehumidifier, and my printer has been executing basically flawlessly in the time since. I did print https://www.printables.com/model/219366-sunlu-filadryer-s2-improvement-wedge which does help the dryer get rid of humidity faster. Really kicking myself for not getting one sooner ..read more

Discussion about 0.6mm Nozzle size, Arachne, Cura -> PrusaSlicer

So people are talking about switching from 0.4 to 0.6 nozzle size. But I'll lose my fine detail?! Apparently there's some advanced slicer tech called Arachne that solves that, which existed first in Cura. Because Cura is open source it has been ported or transitioned into PrusaSlicer as well now? Thomas Sanladerer made a video about this. Anyone have any personal experience with this? Anyone else ready to order a 0.6 or are you skeptical like me? I would say that I am a... After about a year of ownership, I finally got my MMU2S to behave and print with multiple filaments somewhat reliably. The small living room model is by Mosaic Manufacturing. The 1/16 scale house is my own work. No idea how I'd incorporate this into the stuff I print for video games and arcades, but you never know ..read more

Case for Sega Type II sensors (go around the monitor)

I am trying to find a way to discretely place the sensors around a monitor without the full bezel. Just a small case for each one with a small window for the sensor and the rest is covered (black) and the ability to stick them around the monitor. I would get some raceway to go between them. It would be a relatively easy project - anyone know of or willing to try this? Thanks ..read more

I just decided to Pre-Order a new printer The Beat V2: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1624260277/the-beast-v2-second-generation-large-format-3d-pri As some of you know my current printer gives me grief sometimes. I mean I abuse the thing and it does pretty well considering but I've been looking for something with both an enclosure (to help get more consistent prints) and a heated glass bed (so I can continue making parts with a smooth glassy surface). This is a surprisingly... Read more ..read more
