Z stops checking bed height on some points/random

OK this is weird. I've printed hundreds of items and run thousands of hours so I'm very familiar with it's normal behavior. It started failing to initialize while doing the bed leveling about once out of every 10 prints. Note - it didn't not detect the bed. It would go into position, then go up and just fail. Then it was every other print. then it was 4 out of 5. Now it won't get passed this phase. It's always the front right spot, but sometimes the middle and the middle right spots as well. The sensor light doesn't go out  in these problem positions. Other notes; I took it all apart and ..read more

Mk2 to mk3 upgrades

I folks, (I'm sure this must've been asked, but can't find a difinitive answer) I have an O/G i3mk2(s) that I'm in the process of revamping & want to use this opportunity to queeze as much blood from this rock as I can, given to opportunity. If I'm gonna do majour surgery, I might as well do it properly. To what extent can I push the upgrades, hacks & mods on my ol' mk2 to gring it into mk3? My budget is extremely limited - especially with import costs where I am - so I wanna spend as little as possible & make use of what's available to me. It makes little sense in spending as much ..read more

Failed XYZ Calibration

After successfully completing a print using ABS, I noticed that the x axis dimensions of my part seemed to large based upon the model. The y access dimensions were fine. I retriggered the print to check if the issue was a one off or if something was slipping and during the 9 point check, the print head hit the print surface and I got an error. I thought it was just a glitch, so I tried retriggering and got the same issue. I checked to see if any of the screw had come loose (which they had not) and if possibly the PINDA sensor was loose (it was not). I've tried to run a calibration but cannot g ..read more

Blob of Death resulting in dead printer

Hi Everyone,  I had a blob of death form on the hotend of my faithful old workhorse Mk2S.  I heated up the hotend to try to remove said blob and i'm pretty sure i  broke the thermistor wires as I was attempting this surgery.  The printer screen immediately went blank, the power cut, and it has refused to turn ever since.  I decided it was an opportunity to upgrade to a shiny new revo 6 hotend, but now that I've installed it, the printer still wont turn on.   Any thoughts?  is there fuses somewhere I should check?  is the sudden power death typical w ..read more

Problem with Z axis alignment
Prusa3D Forum » Hardware, firmware and software help

Hello all, After a failed print that got caught by the nozzle and dragged on the print bed, I'm having problems with the Z axis of my MK2S. When I move the Z axis all the way up, the right side is always lower by 2mm than the left side. This causes the pre-print calibration to fail on calibration point 4. I've tried to move the Z axis all the way up and force it to colide with the stopers, but when I lower it the right side lowers more than the left. Already did Z calibration from the firmware and XYZ calibration but the problem persists. Is a problem with the motor? Is it a firmware issue? I ..read more

Sd card file system glitchy on Prusa Mk2S

I have a Prusa Mk2S since 2017, had been printing successfully for all that time, but a couple of weeks ago the printer started showing strange characters on the display, then the SDcard file system became sorta corrupted? Best to see the video. https://photos.app.goo.gl/RsnfxVAyez1JWPFL8 At first looking through the forums I thought it was a bad Sd card, changed the sd card thrice and the problem persisted. Then, it wouldn't detect the SD card, took apart the display and pushed a bit the metal flap and it solved the SD card detection system. The problem Sometimes after selecting the file to ..read more

Z-axis loud rumble, no movement

After a several month hiatus from using the printer, upon startup I discovered that the z-axis has stopped operating. It actually passes the Self-test, but when I try to manually move the z-axis, it rumbles loudly and moves only slightly, sometimes and little lower and sometimes up a bit. I loosened the trapezoid nuts and checked the travel: it seems very smooth. The rods look new. I also tried re-seating the z-axis connectors onto the controller. Do I have a bad z-axis motor, and if so, how best to test which one it is ..read more
