Hi There,
New to this and have been experimenting with 3d printing parts for my car.
I have a rough design that I have made just want some advice on the best way to make a mould so I can reproduce the part?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Has anyone tried to use ceramic shell molds to burnout and cast the castable wax? My molds completely broke during burnout (large scale pieces, 6-8”) We also used filament prints for our patterns and those worked great! We put the molds in a large and hot kiln (1200 f) for a flash burnout.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Over the past three months I’ve been printing production parts for a local medical device company as a stop gap till they get their injection mold tooling up and running. Additive manufacturing has opened up so many doors for applications like this but it’s still pretty amazing that 3D printing gives you this ability.
Here’s the full video in case you wanted to see the parts and the process in more detail:

For anyone having issues getting to dashboard like I was, it looks like Formlabs quietly changed the URL from Formlabs Dashboard | Formlabs to https://dashboard.formlabs.com/.
I regularly open dashboard using a bookmark and the old URL doesn’t redirect. The old site just shows a bunch of text like the CSS files didn’t load or something. After some quick troubleshooting, liked clearing all my cache and cookies, I finally figured it out when I used the link on the main site and noticed the URL changed.

Hi all
I’ve been working on a theory of repairing mandibular fractures in cats with 3D printed splints between their teeth. I’m modeling the splint from volume rendering of the CT scans and prototyping with standard white resin first, printed at 50 microns with a form 3B+, and washed and cured as stated. This was all going well and I had tested to my satisfaction and I had tested them on a skull and shown a good fit.
I switched to a prototype with biomed amber and suddenly the splint is very loose; Around 0.2-0.5mm of space around the teeth when the splint is placed over them in Biomed Amber ..read more

Hi!
Just got our formlabs 3BL printer. We are going through the set-up process and I keep getting a levling error-says printer is unlevel. But when I go open the leveling window it appears as leveled-4 blue circles all the way around. Has any one else experienced similar? I have tried factory resetting and all the feet are completely lowered. the printer is on a stable surface.

I’m printing block shaped objects in Tough 2000. Before now last time I printed was back in October.
I’ve printer >1000 of these objects over time and have a fairly good understanding of what problems usually occurs. From time to time I’ve had adhesion issues (printing directly on the build plate).
But now I’m facing something I haven’t see before. To remove my parts I always use a small hammer to gently tap them on the side and they come loose from the build plate. Now though, instead of coming loose they shatter, leaving pieces still attached to the plate.
I first printed one, that shatt ..read more
