We live out these Principles within a “living tradition” of wisdom and spirituality, drawn from sources as diverse as science, poetry, scripture, and personal experience. As Rev. Barbara Wells ten Hove explains, “The Principles are not dogma or doctrine, but rather a guide for those of us who choose to join and participate in Unitarian Universalist religious communities.” 1st Principle: The inherent worth and dignity of every person; 2nd Principle: Jus ..read more

The Stewardship Team has reached out to the remaining folks and we have not had much response and time is of the essence in our budget planning for the new year. We had an optimistic goal of $225,000 and a break even goal of $200,000.  We did great but not enough to get to our goals.  The total is $151,462.  We have 66 pledges.  Most folks increased their pledge (40) and we are so appreciative of this!  A few folks had to decrease and 21 stayed the same.  If you missed pledging and our reminder emails you can reach out to us at stewardship@uuce.org. We will ..read more

Fifteen hungry UUers went to A Taste of the Himalayas in St. Charles to enjoy the cuisine of Bhutan and I’m fairly sure that everyone was glad they did. The food was tasty and we had an entire room to enjoy fellowship with one another. My only regret was I couldn’t be part of all the different conversations going on around me. There was a relative quiet when the food arrived. I highly recommend this restaurant if you get a chance to go. Next month, on Friday, May 24th, we will be visiting Alice’s Corner restaurant at 37 West New York Street in Aurora to enjoy the foods of Bolivia. I hope you c ..read more
