How To Easily Install Shim Gears on Spinning Reels!
A lot of anglers aren't aware of uneven line height on spinning reels. Once discovered most don't know what to do. This is an issue that i never had to fix as i never suffer from uneven line lay. But recently a viewer to my channel was having issues of this on his spinners. I tried my best to explain what to do & realized i've never had to address this issue on my channel. Verbally. And it's hard to explain in words how to properly correct this issue.
So i decided to do a video explaining what causes this & how to easily work throug ..read more

We didn’t really know what to expect for our first valuation day at Rod & Tackle in Cramlington but it certainly delivered the goods! Dave Hogg who runs Rod & Tackle with Grant Harris kindly collected us from the hotel. As we drove the few miles to Rod & Tackle I couldn’t help thinking if we had perhaps planned the event too early in the year. It was cold and the wind was biting. Who would want to come and see us on a Wednesday morning in Cramlington? My fears were put aside when at 9:30 the doors opened and within a few minutes we had a steady queue of people lined up! We bought w ..read more

A recommendation for this firm , who repair outdoor stuff from shoes to coats and rucksacks , and are an approved Goretex agent. I had a problem with two zips on my very pricey Guideline wading jacket -it has had a hard life. A fly fishing friend recommended LSR - I rang on Thursday, called in to Burnley on friday, en route to Cheshire. My zips were replaced while I waited and the cost was little more than peanuts.
A five star recommendation from me ..read more

I Learned This From Years Of Shore Casting & Using UW Video Cameras!
When a fish is hungry it won't be "picky". But when they do get picky i found that if they attack a baited ringed hook that flips back & forth on the bottom when played with and if there's a current or surge that causes that baited hook to move to move on it's own it'll excites the predator into striking. I've seen this on using UW video cameras.
Even though i mostly use dead baits i also use live crabs that i catch on location. When i do my catch rate percentage goes way up. Most experienced anglers know this but t ..read more

How do you take a blank or a poor day’s fishing?
When I was younger I hated blanking with a passion but now I am not only retired but have a far larger range of waters at my disposal, not so much. This was brought to mind recently when I set out to catch some decent perch on the lure. None of the waters has a great pedigree for large perch, though one was supposed to have produced a three plus a few years ago. I fished four waters in two trips, the rather bleak results were one very tentative bite one very decent fish hooked, that may have been a carp, which slipped the hook and no fish. I to ..read more

I fish a river for bream, roach and chub mainly and a canal for tench and rudd if I can get them going. Last year I bought a whizzer, an old moulinex one which works fine. I have been whizzing up any left over bits of bread, no fuss just breaking it down into small pieces, to this I have experimented with all sorts of kitchen ingredients, peanut butter, jam, gravy powder, and a few others I cannot remember now but also some hemp on a few occasions. The thing is I cannot say it has made much difference to my catch or nothing I can perceive.
I have never used pellets, wafters and the huge array ..read more

Seems Okuma Knew About This TPE Handle Issue & Corrected The Next Scheduled Units!
I was recently informed that Okuma has become aware of the TPE wearing issues & will be making changes to correct this. Will also be enhancing gear stability and smoothness over the original design by introducing a different drive system into the next series. This is one of the things that i admire about Okuma. For myself i was already happy w/the current drive system as i was landing fish with no problems.
I'm actually curious about the new version being sent as i already love the current model. The n ..read more
