4/26/24 Report

We stayed near L can from sun up to sun down, about 12 hours. 60 boats were there in the morning but it dropped off to only a handful in the evening as the whitecaps picked up. Mostly drifting and jigging in 22 fow. Seemed pretty muddy to me. Green and orange hair jigs landed us a few eyes there, and a lot of sheep. We went a little north to get slightly clearer water and tried brighter colors. Picked up a few there. In the evening, we went shallower and muddier (about 13 fow). Purple worked there for a few more. Ended the day trolling one pass in 13 fow. Caught a nice one with a pickle bandit ..read more

ISO charter for 6-8

Hello friends! My boss has tasked me to find a walleye charter for a company outing on June 8th. The total number of people is not yet set but it would be at max 11 people. We would be looking to walleye fish with a preference to cast/drift fish and then switch to trolling if “needed” (better to catch trolling than strike out casting!). Would also be interested in switching to smallmouth fishing if we happen to limit out early and/or if that is ever an option. The plan is for the group to stay at Put in Bay for the weekend (Friday-Sunday) so we would need “picked up” from the island if anyone ..read more

Jigging 4/25

Went out with my son and another this morning. Got our limit but really had to work for them. In hindsight , white and purple was the best choice but like good fishermen , we disregarded the info in front of us. I typically prefer dark colors when jigging but today was very different. Any feedback on color choices is appreciated. We were 2 1/2 miles due north of wild wings in 21 feet of water and the wind was pretty nice. Fished with 5/8 or 3/4 ounce jigs the entire time. Caught a dozen or so of sheepshead. Threw 5 or 6 shorts back. For me, learn to make change if what you are doing isn’t wor ..read more

Went to bed early last night, in anticipation of fishing this morning, but woke up an hour earlier, so I got up at 2AM, made some coffee, and took the critters out onto the back deck with me. The wind was out of the north, at around 5-10mph, the sky was mostly clear, with a full/waning moon, and the air temp was a chilly 36 degrees. The wind forecast for the morning was a light and changing wind...from the north, then, switching from the ENE at 5-10 mph. I told my dog, "Goodbye, I love you...I'll be back!", and headed to the gas station. The truck and boat were already gassed up, so all I ..read more

What size binder clips are you guys using, I bought the small size and number 14 rubber bands, thinking of putting my tow line right thru the handles of the binder clips. I have heard other guys attach them to a shower curtain ring, does anybody have a picture preferably of how the clips and bands they use ..read more

I've just a bit of charter experience (10x) in the west basin with worm harness. Looking for direction (websites or places to call) to get a feel on the "what are they biting on" for early May. Generally speaking, when do most shift from jig to worm harness? Depth? Locations? Am I asking too much ..read more
