Food for thought on carbon monoxide detectors

I was planning to replace the CO detector in my hard side fish house, and my background in electronics got me to thinking about whether the temperatures the detector sees when you are away with the heat off affects them. I emailed a couple of well known manufacturers of these detectors and got essentially the same reply from both. Here is a quote from one of them: The temperature ranges the alarm can withstand is 40-100 degrees (F). Even without the batteries in it, if it is in colder temperatures than 40 degrees, the components inside the alarm will be damaged ..read more

The roads are glare ice out there.  Just drove down 371 to 10 from Brainerd to Sartell and there were two trucks with ice houses jackknifed in the ditches.  One before Little falls and one down by Rice.  Had another pickup out of Royalton all over the road zigzagging from one side to another but pulled it out!    So careful if your coming or going even in the morning, winds blowing pretty good as well.  Good luck.   ..read more

Decided to build own house. Going to do a 8x16 single axle. Question I have is the axle pivot setup, only steel I could find that would fit is 2"ID double X tube and 1 15/16" solid. Putting it inside the 2" has some play approx 1/16". What I want to know is how much play is allowed? I don't want to have stuck rusted pivots. The tube will be about 10-12" long. Open to suggestions, TIA ..read more

Been searching for a long time and looking to build an 8x16 house. Like a lot of ideas and tips on this forum. Now I just need the dimensions, location of axle(s) and anything else needed. Already bought the tube steel years ago and am glad I did with today's crazy prices. Only steel I might need is the center part. We have a fab shop at my work and would rather build it as I do have some time. Does anyone have or know where I can find some drawings or plans to get started on my build? Thank You in Advance ..read more
