There’s a sequel to the game later in the Famicom era; from what I read it fixes some of the issue with this game and is more highly regarded. I got the feeling from reading some of the Japanese information about this game that there are aspects of the game that bother Zoids fans, but I don’t know enough about the franchise to say ..read more

The next Atelier games are ports of Marie and Elie to the Game Boy in 2000; from what I understand these are not just ports/remakes but semi new games. I’ve been sick all week so I am not going to make a post — I’m at the end of SF3 but now I have to do a bunch of grinding just to get the parties up to the point where they can fight the last battles…not a particularly good way to end the game ..read more

There was one more of these games, Cao Cao-den, but it was not ported to any consoles. So that’s the end of the Eiketsuden series for me. . Like the other games this first came out for computers and was then ported — this time there was no Saturn port, perhaps reflecting that the Saturn was nearing the end of its lifecycle. On the whole, I think this game is the weakest of the four in pretty much every aspect — it makes me wonder if the game was rushed in development, or whether they just were trying for a simpler approach that just didn’t work out. in the Honnoji Incident. This dramatic scene ..read more
