As this site closes down, I thought of sharing helpful Instagram accounts on ballet technique and cross-training. I'm under @tourjete32 on that platform, documenting my journey and struggles.
@athletistry - terrific teacher with lots of videos on how to work up to more advanced movements and building up strength for them
@runqaiodu
@adam.ashcroft - often lists what his mind is focusing on as he is performing turns and jumps
@howlyballet - some instruction, but I really love watching his students' allegro combinations. Wish I could take a class with him!
Feel free to share your favorites ..read more

I like many have been saddened by the closure of BT4D.
the Mens forum has been a. Valuable resource for many men who dance ballet to share experiences.
on Facebook I have made a group called “Mens Ballet Forum” .
id really appreciate any support because I hope that some of what made this forum so great might continue in the new Facebook group
(this is not for promotion) but I look forward to hopefully seeing some of the guys from the mens forum here on the Mens Ballet Forum on Facebook.  ..read more

I see lots of people with decently professional outfits and I’m trying to figure out what kind of tights to look for so that I can figure out what works best. Here’s an example from an Alice in wonderland performance.

Which is better between microfibre, cotton and nylon? The teacher has requested white or gray pantyhose for now
Thanks everyone for the advice ..read more

Hello everyone.
I've been thinking for a long while about a particular topic, and it specifically relates to men's dress code in ballet companies/schools.
For a while I have consistently worn a simple dance T-shirt (white or black), black or blue footless tights with white socks, and black ballet shoes; for both of my dance schools, this attire and the colors I wore were accepted and I feel very comfortable wearing this clothing in class. I've worn both colors of tights in the same style during some of my recent recital performances. However, at home, I do have other pairs of ballet tights at ..read more

At first, I thought "I'm at home, I don't have to wear anything special to practice."
And then I was in fifth position thinking... maybe that's not right.
I think I am going to buy a few more dance belts. What does everyone else practice in ..read more
