Well, my last 3 hunts (One hour with 2 miles of walking in each) I've see a grand total of 3 squirrels! Two Fox squirrels (One pictured below) and one angry Red Squirrel who was too fast for me. This same hike two years ago I counted 17 in two hours! Either the human hunters really did some damage in the Fall, or the flying predators have been relentless. Been looking at getting a new Airsoft rifle for playing in the backyard and messing around when out fishing. Used to buy Walmart full auto cheapos (well at that time...) and had to replace them once a year or so when I lived in KY for Wasp and Wood Bee control around my cattle barn. Near my home there's an intriguing public trail with parking. Signs say "Grouse Management Area". It's mostly used by dog walkers. I never see grouse or hear grouse there. It's strange to me - set up like a golf course. There's posted signs along the trail with numbers in a grouse silhouette printed on the placards. I have tried contacting the dnr with no luck on this subject. Air guns for night time coyote hunting, do they have to be .269 caliber or smaller? I thought there was a minimum caliber for air rifles for .35 caliber for medium and larger game. I have both a .35 and .25 both pcp. I’m just worried using the .25 won’t give me a clean kill at 40fpe as opposed to 200fpe with the .35. Any input is appreciated guys ..read more
