The 107th Hall Financial Michigan Open Championship was contested June 10-13, at Oakland University on the Katke-Cousins Course. Eric Lilleboe of Okemos won for the second time at Oakland University Golf & Learning Center. The 36-year-old PGA of America’s touring professional previously won the title in 2019. His closing 1-over par 72 in wind-whipped conditions was good enough to give him a four-shot win and the $15,000 first-place check. “It’s very nice.   The Michigan Women’s PGA is celebrating its 31st anniversary and this is the 22nd time it has been held on the Mountain Ridge course at Crystal Mountain. The 54-hole tournament was contested June 24-26. Final results will be reported in the August issue of Michigan Golf Journal. The 54-hole, stroke play event is open to past, present and aspiring professional female golfers. The field competed for a piece of the $40,000 total purse and was cut to the low 70 and ties after 36 holes. White Lake’s McCoy Biagioli, 18 years old and a sophomore on Ferris State University Men’s Golf Team, won the 113th Michigan Amateur Championship on The Heather course at The Highlands at Harbor Springs, by besting 23-year-old Jimmy Dales, of Northville, 3 and 1 in the championship match. The U.S. Junior Amateur will be held at Oakland Hills Golf Club July 22-27. This is the fifth time the championship has been held in Michigan. The University of Michigan Golf Course hosted the juniors in 1948. The junior amateur returned to the Lochmoor Club in 1962, Pine Lake Country Club, in 1980 and finally in 2010 to Egypt Valley Country Club. Qualifying was conducted at 42 sites, May 20 to June 24, to earn a spot at Oakland Hills.
