On February 8, 2023, following a routine chapel service at Asbury University in Wilmore, Kentucky, a handful of students stayed behind and continued to enjoy a time of praise and worship. Asbury President Kevin Brown sent out a brief two-sentence email to the faculty and student body: "There's worship happening in Hughes Auditorium. All are welcome to join."
Within a week, that small gathering had broadened to include as many as 15,000 visitors per day.

Over the course of three decades, Dawna Underwood has seen her job grow and change as she served within Northwest Christian School, a school that was also experienced growth and change. As a result, she has been the tip-of-the-spear within many of the initiatives that kept Northwest Christian on the leading edge of progress.
Underwood came to NCS from Christian Unified in San Diego and started as a classroom teacher. In time, she became the school's first Director of Curriculum and Instruction, eventually becoming the Elementary Principal and Early Education Director.

During the summer of 2023, Eric Dowdle will take the reins of the Northwest Christian School elementary program from Dawna Underwood. Underwood, who is preparing to retire after 32 years of service to NCS and 45 total years within Christian education, served alongside Dowdle for over a decade as part of ACSI Rocky Mountain Regional Accreditation Commission.
For the last few years, Dowdle has served as Deputy Headmaster at Pusch Ridge Christian Academy in Tucson, Arizona. Prior to that, for nearly two decades, Dowdle was Head of School for Tucson's Casas Christian.

In a 2019 interview in The Christian Post, Keith Getty, the musician who penned the Christian standard, "In Christ Alone", called the contemporary worship "utterly dangerous", saying that it was leading to the "de-Christianizing of God's people".
