This Reddit LGBTQ+ community is a safe space for Gender, Sexual, and Romantic Minority ( GSRM) folk to discuss their lives, issues, interests, and passions. LGBT is still a popular term used to discuss gender and sexual minorities, but all GSRM are welcome beyond lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people who consent to participate in a safe space.

As the title states, this is the first time I've experienced homophobia. It happened yesterday when I made a comment on r/Akinator and someone homophobic saw my comment and Reddit profile. And that's what led to these comments. The second picture was their reply after I said \"Wow, that's rude as hell.\" And if anyone is concerned about me, don't worry, I'm fine.

I (38) came out as trans yesterday to my wife (36 cis f) yesterday. I have to say it wad one of the hardest and scariest things I have ever done. I wrote nice 2 page letter. When I got home from work I gave it to my wife, and sat next to her as she read it. Went a lot better than expected, and no where near where the "What if" train was taking me. She said that she had an inkling but never pursued the matter. Tears were shed on both sides. She was/is very accepting and said that we will do this together and that I am stuck with her no matter what. How did I get so lucky. It's a very limited c ..read more

We're used to this gotcha argument:
"What is a woman?"
"Someone who says they're a woman."
"Oh, so if I say I'm a cat, then I'm a cat?"
People don't seem to break it down more than that and it really needs to be. The fact is "being a woman" exists inside the human brain. "Being a cat" exists... (and this may shock some people) ...inside cats. That's not a contradiction, that's a statement of limitations on the attributes of the human brain.
But the biggest misunderstanding here is that "what is a woman?" is asking two different questions that need two different answers.

"The first act of violence that patriarchy demands of males is not violence toward women. Instead patriarchy demands of all males that they engage in acts of psychic self-mutilation, that they kill off the emotional parts of themselves.
If an individual is not successful in emotionally crippling himself, he can count on patriarchal men to enact rituals of power that will assault his self-esteem." - bell hooks, The Will to Change

Context: I was scrolling through Reddit and saw a post that baffled me enough to send it to my best friend since we were in 3rd grade. He has a girlfriend who is bi as well so that is what I mean by “us” and I was just goofing around lol
He has helped me through hell and back and this conversation made me feel motivated to give him an appreciation post here. I asked if it was okay and he said it was so Ryan, thank you for everything you have done for me, you are like a brother to me and without you, I would be a mess still. I tell him all the time that if I found a husband who is half as ..read more

I went to a queer karaoke yesterday to see if I could socialise with other queer folk in this city. For context, I’m a black male living in a conservative and white European city.
I arrived and saw I was the only black person there, although the crowd was quite diverse, but it was still every “race” sticking to their own group. I tried talking to a few people but everyone was unbelievably dismissive of me.
I eventually went up to the stage to sing Mariah Carey’s “Without You”. I’m a singer so I of course I did a great performance. I was expecting people to come up to me and compliment my perf ..read more
