In this episode Lurie interviews Rachel on the surprising reason she trained as a sex coach and talks about putting the body first--politics. Many of the aspects of our political circumstances involves a disordered relationship to the body. Namely believing that the body is in service to the mind rather than Rachel's firm believe that the mind is in service to the body.

Lurie discusses her recent personal research on money and our relationship to it and Capitalism. We also discuss why having nuanced critique of our current economic system is important rather than simply saying "Capitalism is bad," let's get specific about what's bad, what's good, and how we want to shift things.

This week Lurie and Rachel talk about self-care. Often self-care is taught to be something we do externally first--get a spa treatment, take a bubble bath--without considering what our individual bodies and souls truly need and desire to feel full again. We talk about what true self-care is, how to cultivate it for yourself, and other societal misconceptions.
As always, we discuss sensitive topics so be mindful of who's around you.

This week Rachel and Lurie discuss a couple of books they've been reading. Christine Emba's new book, "Rethinking Sex: A Provocation" calls us to consider what more than consent needs to be present for sex to be good. As she comes from an Evangelical background and converted to Catholicism in college, her work is dripping with theological claims, despite the book being for a popular audience.
"Vagina" by Naomi Wolf is a classic (despite being published within the last decade) and has some brilliance as well as some points that we'd like her to expand on.

Lurie and Rachel talk in this episode about how that change came about, what will be changing about the show, and what will be staying the same. The main reason for the change is that both of us have conflicted feelings around the word Christian, and we imagine it may be a complicated word for you too. After months of considering our options a rebranding seemed like the simplest solution to continue to give you and us the opportunity to share time with you and talk about our fa ..read more
