@winger7 — high earning potential isn’t going to sway them, and if your SC partner doesn’t have enough to support you both while you’re not working, being denied shouldn’t come as a surprise. They want productive members of society here, and are happy to put the squeeze on anyone who doesn’t maintain that standard. Having Canadian citizenship might make them squeeze you even harder, because you appear to have options that could free up space here for more productive members of society than yourself and your partner. It may sound harsh, but optimizing the limited space here is a priority. Stati ..read more

Hi there, Stumbled upon this thread and was wondering if OP had any updates and whether it worked out for him, I certainly hope so! I'm in a similar situation, feel devastated but actually also shocked that our PMLA assessment was rejected as I (foreigner) made upwards of $20K/ month in salary, but have not worked for 1 year now. I am a Canadian national or Chinese descent. Yes my partner (SC) does not make much but all I can think of is the fact that we only met for 2 years. Not much in our control now except to hope that the LTVP assessment may change if I start working (be it abroad). T ..read more

Little bit of clarification, if I may.... When it comes to Chinese ancestry there are other hierarchies that are taken into consideration which will give you a better inkling as to what you are up against and what ICA is actually capable of. First of all the Chinese who are from Malaysia stand the best chance of gaining PR as most there already have either close or distant relatives here in Singapore as this was part of Malaysia until separation in '65, unless, of course, it should turn up that the grandparents were members of the Chinese Communist part back in the day. One step down are Indo ..read more

Hello, We are a team of researchers aiming to understand the factors that parents of special needs children consider when choosing a school. We recognize that this can be a challenging and overwhelming process, given the need to evaluate various aspects such as the qualifications of teachers and therapists, the curriculum, and the quality of communication between parents and teachers. By gaining insights into your experiences and preferences, we hope to contribute to enhancing the support services for special needs education in Singapore schools. We would be very grateful if you could share ..read more

Thank you, NYY1. Yes, I have read that. However, 2 questions: (1) I am told that even if the school does not need to get an exemption / waiver, the parents still have to separately file for an exemption? Is that incorrect? (2) Is that policy applicable across all international schools? Or does UWC have a special arrangement with the MOE? Thank you, again. I don't know the answer to your first question. I would think not, but I am no longer close to this process (the exemption criteria and process may have changed over the years). On your second question, I would think all schools are subj ..read more

Advice? Yes. Get a job with an MNC in Belgium that has offices in Singapore. Ask to be transferred to Singapore. That's the only way it's going to happen. There is not one single reason that a foreign, fresh grad from uni is going to be allowed by the government to compete with local college graduates for a limited number of jobs. That's reality.
