First time in Thailand, really enjoying it so far. If I have a flight leaving from DMK on AirAsia on a Wednesday afternoon and I have luggage to check, how much earlier should I plan on arriving at the airport? I don't mind sitting in a lounge to wait if it has some food and drinks, and it looks like there are some options in Terminal 2. From a different thread it seems like three hours is too much time. Is two hours enough?
From Lumphini Park area, would Grab be a good option to take to DMK? That's what I used when I arrived from BKK. Thank you ..read more

Hi! First time in a very long time getting connecting flights! We are flying Eva air Bangkok to London but need to get there from
either Phuket or krabi first. The largest connection time I can find would be 2 hours and 10 mins. Would this be long enough???
if not, I can see that Eva air offer a Phuket-Bangkok-London flight with the Phuket leg with a partner airline, with a shorter connection time. Would I be able to add this leg on and have my luggage check through to London? Thank you ..read more

Automated Passport Control is being introduced at Bangkok Suvarnahumi International Airport. E-gates will be installed for departing passengers.
However, this initiative raises a number of questions.
Will the service be available to departing travelers from all countries? Even at airports which already have e-gates for departure immigration--there are a number in Europe--only select countries' nationals can make use of the system.
Why is the system being installed for departures only? In my experience flying into both of the Bangkok airports, the lengthiest and slowest-moving lines are on a ..read more

Given that Don Muang was reopened in order to take pressure off Suvarnabhumi and to serve as Bangkok's LCC airport, it is odd that LCCs continue to fly into Suvarnabhumi. IndiGo, EastarJet, HK Express, Jeju Air, Jin Air and Scoot should all have been switched over to DMK. This would go some way to relieving congestion at BKK while providing a single LCC-focused airport for Bangkok at DMK. As an older facility with comparatively few amenities, Don Muang is ideal for budget carriers and their passengers ..read more

Two of us (male, middle aged and getting older, friends, straight) looking at going to Thailand for two weeks in early February. Not interested in big noisy crowded dirty cities or being surrounded by ten million drunken German and British tourists. So Bangkok and Phuket are out.
Activities planned would be lying around, sleeping, beach/pool/eat, have a couple of beers, snorkeling, maybe the odd sightseeing and possibly getting an hour or two of remote work done per day (this last part is not essential). Looking at staying at resort(s) on the beach in the $300.00 range give or take, although ..read more

So my flight is scheduled to land just after midnight on Jan 31. Plan is to depart Bangkok and fly to Phuket on Feb 4.
I was thinking I would be booking 4 nights (3 full days) from 1/31 to 2/4.
But in fact I would have to book 5 nights wouldn't I, from 1/30 to 2/4, because arriving say at 1 or 2 AM on 1/31, I would be a late check-in for 1/30?
Dang, it's been awhile since I've been to Asia so I've arrived late at night but not actually after midnight ..read more

Hi everyone,
I’m curious how busy Phuket Airport is for domestic departures. How many hours before my VietJet flight do you think it makes sense to arrive? I’m traveling with kids and checking luggage. My typical rule of thumb these days is 3 hours, is that too much?
Thanks in advance ..read more

I have recently moved (back) to BKK after 10 years abroad and I noticed for a while now that a family owned forex business now has a 'green' vs. 'orange' branch. Sometimes I'd see them side-by-side / literally competing with one another, not sure if this is a totally accurate statement though.
Does anyone know the full story? I was advised there was a huge drama within the family and that's why they split up ..read more
