If you are a Dive Shop owner in Phuket and are interested in selling some of your shares to infuse some funds into your business or to cash out part of your initial investment please send me a private message. I am interested in making a minimum 10 - 15% share of a dive shop. I am not interested in running the day to day of the company, but being a passionate diver (PADI Rescue) and with a whole-hearted interested in owning a dive shop this is the closest I can get to that dream due to... 18 of us full-boat chartered The Phinisi for the ten-day “Best of Thailand” trip to the North and South Andaman, in March 2024. 14 of us toured Thailand together for a week prior to boarding the boat. The touring and the boat trip were both arranged by Caradonna Diving Adventures and were booked and invoiced separately. Bottom Line: Great trip! Glitch or two in the touring/transfer arrangements, nothing major. Boat’s crew and operations were flawless…happy and competent and helpful... Read more ..read more

Trip Report - The Smiling Seahorse Mergui Archipelago (Myanmar)

While this was my tenth trip on The Smiling Seahorse over the past four seasons, it was the first to Myanmar, so I figured I'd share some of the peculiarities of this particular route. The Smiling Seahorse is a liveaboard, designed and operated by a French couple, Franck and Camille, built in Thailand some six years ago. It hosts up to sixteen guests per trip, and before COVID, used to run almost exclusively on the Myanmar routes, but when the epidemic forced border closures they had to... Read more ..read more

Myanmar or South Andaman

I did Similan (Richelieu) with Smiling Seahorse and loved it. Richelieu was probably the best I've experienced in my life. I'm normally boat diving off Hawaiian islands. Now I'm trying to decide between the Myanmar itinerary, South Andaman (Koh Lipe), or change focus to Philippines. This would be my second LOB of my life, and I'm a recreational diver who wants to go for the leisure. I'm not a photographer, but I carry a gopro to share my experience with my family/friends. I'd love to see... Read more ..read more

South Andaman Vs Similan and Richlieu

Hi there! I'm a moderate diver with 100 dives, mostly in the Red Sea. I did a 4 day LOB with Manta Queen 5 in Thailand back in January 2020. The trip was pretty decent - saw two small sharks and a few big rays. Unfortunately, visibility was non-existent at Richlieu for 3 dives - I lost my dive buddy! Food was okayish and the guides were great. I've been thinking about heading back to Thailand this month. I saw some people say South Andaman is a better route than what I did. It's certainly... Christmas Point/The pinnacles?

Dear community, I have a dive logged at "The pinnacles" site on Similan #9. Could "Christmas point" be also referenced as "The pinnacles"? I was looking on various maps and didn't find "The pinnacles" however when reading many descriptions of famous dive sites, especially at #9, I found that there are pinnacles at the Christmas point so I thought it could be the same site. Any suggestions? thanks ..read more

What's the latest info for Koh Samet please?

hello - since info on Koh Samet here is quite aged now, I'm hoping there are some people out there with recent experience to share. me and the gf will be in BKK mid-August. seems the east coast is best for diving that time of year. i'm a very experienced DM (based in Manila) and gf a skilled beginner (great buoyancy already). my research seems to rule out Pattaya (crappy diving) so hoping Koh Samet may scratch the diving itch (mostly for her; she lives in Canada). would be great to get...
