NFL tight ends have rarely made a big impact during their first season in the league historically. We've seen that change in recent years. Last year, Sam LaPorta (Lions) and Dalton Kincaid (Bills) were second on their respective teams in receiving for two of the league's better offenses. In 2021, Kyle Pitts (Falcons) set rookie receiving records for a tight end.  Other tight ends throughout the league have been premier weapons for their teams. Travis Kelce (Chiefs), George Kittle (49ers), T.J. Hockenson (Vikings) and Dallas Goedert (Eagles) have taken their offenses to another level.  ..read more

NEW ORLEANS -- Fans of the signing of defensive end Chase Young were met with some bad news on Tuesday after reports stated that Young would need offseason neck procedure. The issue that some took with the news was not necessarily the procedure itself, but the contract that the New Orleans Saints had straddled him with. The deal was reported as a one-year, fully guaranteed $13 million contract. A deal that would have been a bad look considering the Saints were aware of the situation. The agreement had many people looking for answers. Why guarantee $13 million to a player that is about to ..read more

New Orleans Saints defensive ends and edge rushers accounted for only 16 sacks, 41 QB hits, and 21 tackles for loss in 2023. As a result, the Saints had the NFL's fourth worst sack total. Considering that DE Carl Granderson was responsible for 8.5 of those sacks, 20 QB hits, and 14 tackles for loss and this lack of production is an even bigger concern.  Cameron Jordan is coming off the least productive campaign since his rookie year with only two sacks and three tackles for loss. Three of Tanoh Kpassagnon's 3.5 sacks came in one game. Payton Turner, a 2021 first-round pick, has played in ..read more

Sports Illustrated » New Orleans Saints

The New Orleans Saints have not been active on the open market through the first week of free agency. That should come as no surprise. New Orleans did their annual financial juggling to get under the salary cap. In doing so, they restructured or extended the contracts of several key veterans to avoid releasing them. The Saints did lose a few key players in WR Michael Thomas, S Marcus Maye, and DT Malcolm Roach. Veteran offensive lineman Andrus Peat also remains unsigned and available to other teams.  New Orleans has not stayed completely quiet. They've signed a starting quality linebacker ..read more
