The New Orleans Saints announced on Wednesday that they have re-signed veteran S Johnathan Abram. This comes just a day after the team re-signed S Ugo Amadi.  New Orleans released S Marcus Maye just prior to the start of free agency. They also lost reserve defensive back Lonnie Johnson, who agreed to terms with the Houston Texans. The New Orleans Saints announced that they had signed free agent offensive lineman Olisaemeka Udoh on Tuesday. New Orleans also announced that they had re-signed S Ugo Amadi. Udoh, 27, played collegiately at Elon Phoenix in North Carolina. The Minnesota Vikings selected him in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft. He appeared in just seven games combined between the 2019 and 2020 seasons. In 2021, Udoh played in a career-best 17 games, starting 16 of those contests at guard. The New Orleans Saints entered this offseason with three quality wideouts in Chris Olave, Rashid Shaheed, and A.T. Perry. Olave has topped 1,000 yards in both his NFL seasons, catching 87 passes for 1,123 yards in 2023. The undrafted Shaheed, also in his second year, pulled in 46 receptions for 719 yards and made 1st Team All-Pro as a punt returner. The Saints are signing free agent pass rusher Chase Young, according to multiple reports. New Orleans had him in for a visit on Monday after it was originally rescheduled from last week. Young, the former No. 2 overall pick from 2020's draft and Defensive Rookie of the Year, will turn 25 in April and gives the Saints a major boost to their edge group. New Orleans Saints defensive ends and edge rushers accounted for only 16 sacks, 41 QB hits, and 21 tackles for loss in 2023. As a result, the Saints had the NFL's fourth worst sack total.
