And I’m not saying the ref was wrong to do it either. The eye looked horrible. It was a fair result.
But losing on an eye injury (which is why the ref stopped the fight) is not the same as getting knocked out or wilting to the point where you can fight no longer.
That’s where we differ.
I think it is the same as getting knocked out / stopped ….. on the basis that the damage occurred as a result of being soundly outboxed and taking sustained punishment.
Either way you have rendered your opponent unable to continue by outperforming them.
When it is that one sided the damage is coming ..read more

These “Sanctioning” bodies are not fit for purpose.
Fury should have stripped of his title at least 6 months ago.
Why hasn’t he?
Coz the WBC are like their champ, gazing lovingly at huge fees from a potential Saudi/Qatar fight.
Its disgraceful.
Boot all these leeches into the dust.
The UFC model isn’t perfect but crikey it is several leagues above this nonsense.
I’d have Ring magazine and Boxrec over the current nonsense.
To save this as a sport and not a money fest.
Our lower level guys are suffering because the Saudi money isn’t “washed” down to them. Pardon the terrible joke.

When I boxed amateur (80s & 90s) there was almost always someone video recording the fights, whether a professional or a committee member doing it - I couldn`t always afford them, or if I lost badly, want to buy them .. but back then pretty much anyone who boxed amateur will have a few old videos to look back on.
As already written, mobile phones pix weren`t a thing 20-25 yrs ago so taking a pic was a lot more deliberate. That said there often used to be people with a video recorders or slr cameras taking pics of us training.
Most of the pictures I still have of the time I used to box are ..read more

I've wanted to see Wilder V Ruiz forever.
Neither of them have got a fight lined up and they have each had back and forth on unsocial media, yet they can't arrange a fight between them.
Boxing can be do frustrating at times.

Me and Roy Foreman hit it off many years ago in London when I went to London Arena to see his brother fight. I've got to tell you me and Jackie Berg were having a right conversation when Chris Pyatt and Mr Warren came over for a brief chat. Unfortunately I was too busy with Frank Bruno at the time and had to rush off to speak with big James Oyebola. After that I went over to see Gerry ODowd, big boxing family he came from and wanted to meet up with his brother Boy George who was in a big group at the time. Had to laugh as George wasn't there but we could have had a great old natter.
I've met ..read more

I bumped into Henry Wharton in Whitby a few years ago. He knew who I was straight away.
Actually Dave Allen is currently staying in Whitby as I've seen him on the beach on his Instagram page. I'm guessing he's here because of Henry Wharton a few years ago. Unfortunately I'm at work today so won't get to meet up with him.

Della Maddalena and Shevchenko got the bad end of two debatable albeit not damaging decisions.
Ray Rosas going for the win like he wanted to steal something, nice confidence booster for the rookie

Is it a situation where Fury is wary of Usyk and Joshua, and Joshua doesn’t trust his form enough not to get blitzed by Wilder. Really that just leaves Usyk v Wilder as the only viable top tier heavyweight match up.

Like all the rest of the smug globalists whose real aim
Is to suck up to corporate interests and become multi millionaires once they’ve had enough of politics.
Authoritarian
Promote culture wars
Dilute nationalism
Pro open borders
Do f all about actual issues ie housing crises and rising crime
WEF young global leader
All the same.

No one expected Zhang to win, least of all Joyce's team. That's why they took the fight. Ironically it was similar to when Joyce fought Dubois. It wasn't the plan for Joyce to win and sadly for Joyce it was Dubois that went on to get much better paydays.
Weird.
