Pancit bihon is a Filipino staple. You actually always see it during merienda, in office meetings, in celebrations, or even at home. We always have noodles in every birthday celebration because it signifies long life. These noodle dishes are usually sweet spaghetti, pancit canton, or pancit bihon. I’ve tried several pancit bihon recipes in the internet, but a lot of them are always lacking in taste or that umami flavor. Usually, these pancit bihon recipes would cook the noodles in a mixture of soy sauce, oyster sauce, chicken cube, and sugar. Even then, I still find the noodles in the pancit b ..read more

Siempre he admirado el método Montessori.

I’ve always been a Montessori convert. I’ve tried to raise my children the Montessori way since I’d like them to be independent in their actions. One Montessori toy my children enjoy playing is the Busyboard Toddler Book. It’s a great toy because it’s non-electronic and it helps my kids with real-life physical activities. This particular Montessori busyboard toddler book that I found on Amazon have several pages. The first page has a zipper, velcro, and several fasteners, which my kids love to play with. It allows them to learn how to zip and fasten using different buckles, a real-life use ..read more

Two months ago, my friends and I visited another Bib Gourmand restaurant in Madrid called La Monteria. Everytime we meet up, we try a new Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant just to compare and see which ones we would return to. Here in La Monteria, we ordered the Classic Menu which was 42 euros each. With drinks, we paid around 45 euros each. Appetizer Crispy Shrimp Salad It’s hard to get a reservation here. You can’t do it the same day. My husband and I tried to get a same-day reservation here but it was full. We reserved around 5 days in advance for La Monteria. Fried Prawns Bonito en escab ..read more

Michelin Madrid Bib Gourmand: Tepic

My husband and I also like to eat in Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurants in Madrid once in a while. I think, for this particular lunch, it was my birthday, and our first option was to eat in La Monteria, but we couldn’t get a same day reservation there. When I eat with my husband, one of our main criteria in choosing a restaurant is its proximity to his work. So it has to be in Barrio Salamanca. I’ve practically eaten in almost all Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurants in Barrio Salamanca, Madrid, so it’s harder to choose a restaurant when I’m with him. Once a month, my friends and I try a Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant in Madrid. It’s a great way to meet friends to catch up, and at the same time, treat ourselves to a nice lunch. Usually, whoever can go in our group will just go. For this particular restaurant, only two of us could meet up. Ensaladilla Rusa Bacalao La Maruca Velasquez has a really nice location, right smack in the middle of Barrio Salamanca, though their restaurant was a little bit downstairs. It had really nice interiors, but you were given a 1.5-hour window to order and finish everything. In fairness to them, we stayed ..read more

A few months ago, my friends and I ate in a Michelin One Star Restaurant in Madrid called La Tasqueria. Since this happened around six months ago, I don’t really remember what we ate, but I have pictures of it. All I remember is that the food was good and it was worth it. We sat in the terraza because the spring weather was beautiful outside. Bread and Olive Oil Pate with Crackers Salad with Something We were four and we got the smallest menu for 50 euros each in La Tasqueria. This menu included aperitivo, snacks, petit fours, pan y aceite, 4 plates and dessert. Because we wanted to try the ..read more

We went to the Philippines for summer, and we had the most amazing vacation. It’s been three months since we arrived and it’s only now that I found the time to actually write about this amazing experience. First, it was cheaper for us to fly home to the Philippines than stay in Madrid. In summer, there’s no subsidized school and since my husband and I were still working, enrolling our kids to summer camp would have cost us 700 euros per month per child, so that would be 1400 euros per child per month for two months. It was the same cost as our flight, so it was a no brainer to go back to the P ..read more

Our second Michelin Madrid Bib Gourmand restaurant is Taberna Recreo Espartinas. If you’ve been following our Michelin Madrid Bib Gourmand journey, we only go to these restaurants on special occasions. This time, we celebrated Mother’s Day and our 4-year wedding anniversary by treating ourselves to Taberna Recreo. Basically, we choose the Michelin Madrid Bib Gourmand restaurant that is nearest to us. In this case, this one is in the Goya District in Barrio Salamanca, very near where my husband’s mom lives and in the same barrio we live in. It’s also in the same area of Treze Restaurant, anothe ..read more

When we purchased our house, we just moved to Madrid, so we barely had anything. We were starting from scratch, so it was a good time for me to actually think about the items I wanted in my kitchen.
