I’m buying a factory second, here, Framework Factory Seconds Framework Laptop 13 DIY Edition (11th Gen Intel® Factory Seconds laptops are new systems that use parts that are excess, obsolete, or functionally good but unable to meet our strict cosmetic specs. Rather than scrapping this material, we combine it with new parts, run it through our normal factory... Page shows no ports for sale. Do I get my ports off the main sales page for 13 inch laptops? It also doesn’t show power adapters. Do I get my power adapter off the main sales page for 13 inch laptops? Thanks. 2 posts - 2 participants Re ..read more

1000 Hz wireless mouse movement causes screen stuttering (Windows 11)

Hi all, I am trying out a new Framework 13 AMD and noticed a weird issue that I had never observed on a different machine. Has anyone observed it, or do you have any debugging advice? Quick edit: As I explained in a later post, this mainly happens when I enable the mouse’s high report rate above 125 Hz up to 1000 Hz (the maximum). Short explanation With the USB dongle for Logitech G305 plugged in, when I start moving the mouse, the screen framerate starts dropping and sometimes the screen completely stutters for about half a second. After trying so many combinations (see below), I have only 2 ..read more

[RESPONDED] Gnome Software Fingerprint Sensor Error Message After Every Update
Framework Community » Framework Laptop

After successfully updating all available firmware recently using LVFS (fwupdmgr ...), every time Gnome Software is done installing a software update, it shows an error message about the Fingerprint sensor on system reboot stating “Device cannot be used during update”. Everything on my computer works, including the Fingerprint sensor, but this is an annoyance I’d like to get rid of. Error Snapshot I’m on the latest firmware: ehsanj@fw13 : ~ [0] % sudo dmidecode -t bios # dmidecode 3.5 Getting SMBIOS data from sysfs. SMBIOS 3.6.0 present. # SMBIOS implementations newer than version 3 ..read more

Philips USB-C monitor and USB hub intermittent odd behavior

Hi everyone, At my office, I use a Philips monitor that connects via USB-C. The model is Brilliance 258B6. When connecting it to my Framework 11th gen running Ubuntu (currently 23.10) I intermittently bump into a behavior where the video signal works fine, but the USB peripherals are not recognized for the first couple of minutes. Then, they start working. I can go for weeks without the issue presenting itself, then it rears its ugly head. The logs look like this: I am adding the output of dmesg -T, scoped around the time I plugged and unplugged the monitor. Any suggestion would be appreciate ..read more

Bios update and latest drivers

Hello, Having received the “Enabling software longevity” newsletters 8 days ago, I am wondering if I should perform the updates. Concerning the bios, I found on my PC a version SMBIOS 3.3 which leaves me perplexed as to the version 3.08 available. As for all the drivers, they date from 07/26/2022 and I purchased my PC on 09/09/2022. I feel like I already have the latest versions. Do other people have the same questions as me? Thanks. 2 posts - 2 participants Read full topic ..read more

High Weirdness: Can't login on Wayland....can't run anything other than built in shell commands in terminal

I have the AMD 13 inch Framework laptop and it has worked well for me with Fedora…until now. Suddenly - I don’t know what triggered it - I can not log in to my account with Wayland on Gnome. I can login without Wayland and I can log in on KDE which I also have installed… But in addition to that, once I do log in, if I open terminal, I can not run any commands - it says they are not found. So, I was unable to do any of the diagnostics or suggested fixes I found online for various wayland and gnome issues… I am wondering if this is related to recent updates or the BIOS issues? I have no idea…I a ..read more

[RESPONDED] Can't do initial login with fingerprint (Ubuntu 22.04)

I’ve got an AMD Laptop 13 that I’m dual booting with windows 11 and ubuntu 22.04 (I’m on the 6.5.0-1020-oem kernel). I can get my fingerprint stored in ubuntu just fine, but it just doesn’t seem to do anything on initial login. I see a prompt for my password and the message “(or place finger on reader)” but using my finger print does nothing. I ultimately have to sign in with my password. If I lock my user session in ubuntu after initial login I can authenticate with the fingerprint reader just fine though. I’m pretty new to ubuntu so I’m mostly stock and haven’t messed with many things under ..read more
