Jesus speaks some profound words in John 14:27, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.” In this sermon, Tim considers these glorious words of Christ ..read more

Does The Immense Peace of God Guard Your Heart?
Anxiety & Worry - What Does the Bible Say? - I'll Be Honest
by Geoff Thomas

[The following is an unedited automated transcript of what Geoff Thomas shared at the prayer meeting prior to the Fellowship Conference.] I draw your attention to Philippians 4 and the very well-known words in verses 4-7. Rejoice in the Lord always, again, I will say rejoice. Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. Be anxious for nothing but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made known to God and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Three things here that ch ..read more

Anxious? Are You Believing God Made The Universe?
Anxiety & Worry - What Does the Bible Say? - I'll Be Honest
by Ryan Fullerton

Anxious? I meet a lot of Christians who tell me I’ve struggled with anxiety. I struggle with fear. I’ve never had a Christian come up to me and say, “You know, I struggle with believing that God made the entire universe.” But that would be a more honest description of your struggle. Because your anxiety and fear is a symptom, not a disease, it’s a symptom of this fact that you allow it to vanish from your mind, that God made everything, that he laid the foundation of the world. And since he’s in control of all things, fear and anxiety are a fundamental denial of who He is and what he has done ..read more

Not Enabling The Depressed and Anxious to Remain There
Anxiety & Worry - What Does the Bible Say? - I'll Be Honest
by Jeff Peterson

Here’s our question: “When another Christian is struggling with anxiety and depression but they know biblical truths that don’t feel real to them for a season, how should brethren come alongside them?  We are to “encourage the faint-hearted” (1 Thessalonians 5:14), “exhort one another as long as it is called ‘today’” (Hebrews 3:13). With many other scriptures like these, how ought we to encourage them to trust God and admonish them for not trusting Him, but not enable them to remain where they are?” Ok. My answer may not very popular here and it might considered unloving, but we have to ..read more

Anxiety is a Waste of Time
Anxiety & Worry - What Does the Bible Say? - I'll Be Honest

If you give into anxiety you will reap fear, condemnation, and discouragement. Anxiety is a wasted choice that dishonors the Savior. Rather we must not yield to anxiety, but take everything to the Lord in prayer. If you choose to give in to anxiety, does it help you? What good’s it going to do you? It’s wasted energy. It’s wasted. Everything’s wasted in it. You will reap – if you give into anxiety – you will reap fear, condemnation, discouragement, I could name probably twenty other things anxiety will bring. So, anxiety is a wasted choice that dishonors your Savior.  So if we learn to s ..read more

From Fear to Faith in the Face of Christ
Anxiety & Worry - What Does the Bible Say? - I'll Be Honest

I want to speak to you in this last session on: From Fear to Faith in the Face of Christ. From Fear to Faith in the Face of Christ. Or if you wanted a simpler title: Faith up. Fears down. One thing of mortifying sin is killing our fears. I want to speak on fear and replacing it with faith today. Let’s read from two Psalms. Psalm 34. We read it earlier this morning – the whole psalm. But I want to read three verses. Psalm 34:4-6 “I sought the Lord, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. They looked to Him and were lightened. Their faces were not ashamed. This poor man cried, and ..read more

Contentment is Found in Christ Alone
Anxiety & Worry - What Does the Bible Say? - I'll Be Honest
by Jesse Barrington

What is contentment? Contentment is being fully satisfied in our soul, it is an idea of complete sufficiency. It is used in reference to God, in His self sufficiency and needing nothing. You could say it is coming to a state of being that is independent of external circumstances. In other words, it is being unmoved by external circumstances and situations because of the soul satisfaction within us; a state of soul satisfaction and sufficiency that circumstances, neither positive nor negative, can impact. This type of contentment is found in Christ alone and maintained by His power at wor ..read more
