Hooray, and at last, had some dry weather, even the sun making an appearance. Several members made an appearance too and jobs undertaken were grass cutting, strimming, site clearance, fence erecting, gardening and a hydraulic and steam test on a 7 1/4" loco.   It was so good to see locos running on the tracks. The 5" Hymek had a satisfactory test on the rails and so did the 7 1/4" Feldbahn after it passed the boiler test.  These two locos will be new (to Evergreens) to ride behind on open days.   ..read more

This week work was done on the catering van (Food Station), and drainage work was undertaken.   Signal planning took place.    Photo shows work being done to some metal supports for the planned addition of a 3.5 inch gauge track to the 5 inch gauge raised track.  Two lady members cleaning the outside tables and chairs. Twigs and branches being disposed of.  The water tower for the 5 inch gauge had its plumbing finished and the casing got painted, just needs a roof to it now ..read more

Work continued on the 5" gauge water tower. The refurbished push mower looks splendid and has the approval of the teddy bears. Teddy Bears will want the grass cut for their picnic in May ..read more

Evergreens were given a wooden loco.  After taking it apart and much sanding down, priming and repainting, it has also been given metal rods and cylinders.  Some of our members have built a bug hotel.  A little more work on it and it will be ready to  welcome guests. A barn owl has been seen we believe it is taking up residence in the the owl box. Evergreens have been given an old mower.  It is being refurbished ready to go on display.   Panels of fresh fencing put in place.   After trimming up the public car park hedge it was decided to trim up the members car park hedge too.   More preperations to upgrade the electricty supply to our temporary building.   Foundation in place for platform paving slabs to be laid.  ..read more

While the two ladies have been busy trimming the hedgerow a robin has kept them company.  Every now and again he would burst into song.   This photo shows the start of a foundation for a water tower.  Being placed by the platform for the 5" gauge raised track.   Fence repairs have been done.   Digging out what will be the outer loop of 7 1/4" gauge track. Valiant volunteers (braving the cold conditions) continued trimming the hedge and also the trees along the driveway.  The tree and hedge debris being controllably burnt off in a stillage. This week saw a good progression of trimming up the car park hedge.  The straggly branches being burnt.  It was a bit chilly so now and again warmth from the fire was good. Dead leaves are being raked up and burnt too Overhanging branches cut down along driveway. Work to upgrade our electricity supply to our temporary buildings has continued. The ground became dry enough this week for removal of turf and soil for the track bed of the outer loop.  The turf and soil is being put to good use as a retainer for the stone roadway that was laid last summer.
