Today, President Biden signed the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) into law, following passage by the U.S. House of Representatives on August 12 and the U.S. Senate on August 7. As the largest single climate investment at the federal level in U.S. history, the IRA invests $369 billion in climate and clean energy solutions and environmental justice actions. Recent advances in wind energy technology have made wind energy an economic and reliable source of power throughout the Southeast. The first coastal wind farm to be built in the Southeast, called the Amazon Wind Farm North Carolina – Desert Wind, started producing power in 2017 in Pasquotank and Perquimans Counties, near Elizabeth City.
