Evening all, So I went to the Ft. Worth Gunshow yesterday and picked up a bayonet for my CAR-15. Didn’t realize until I gotten home, the bayonet is for an A2 barrel. So what is the nomenclature for a correct fitting AR with the pencil barrel? Thanks for the input ..read more

Buying Firearms in person or online

I want to ask this question in this forum of "mature" members. How many of you folks buy firearms sight unseen? For instant: a collectible war bucks Colt SAA? How many members bought a 2020 Python/Anaconda sight unseen? I am sure people have been burned, but there has to be reputable, honest sellers out there! Personally, I bought firearms online, but nothing rare or exotic ..read more

Did a walk thru the Sunday flea market this morning at 7a.m. and found this sitting on a table. Can't say I was looking for one but it spoke to me so I bought it for $450. Not a pristine example but it will be good for a night stand gun or occasional carry. Excellent mechanics. First time I've had a revolver with a Hammer shroud ..read more

1920's Colt Police Positive "Fitz" modified.

So this one is finished. It came out a lot better than I expected. I started with a six inch gun, that had a bit of pitting. The pitting was fine, but remember Fitz started with brand new guns, so be gentile with me. The barrel was cut to about 1.5 inches. Hammer bobbed and the trigger guard cut like the period "Fitz Specials". Getting the trigger guard to look right is the hardest part. I like it to look like it was designed that way- leaving no trace of the hump at the front of the... 1920's Colt Police Positive "Fitz" modified ..read more

Troubleshooting Failure to Eject

Was shooting a couple first gen Woodsman today and both were being finnicky, typically failing to eject so that the hammer would be cocked but with the slide forward on an empty shell. Pull trigger, click. Eject and same thing. Interestingly it would happen on the first 3 or 4 rounds then the rest of the mag would be OK. It was chilly out and the ammo was cold as well, high 50s, so not super cold but also not a hot day when it seems all guns run better. I know 22s can be very picky about... Colt 1849 Question

I'm fairly new to this era of Colt revolvers, so I'm hoping someone on here can shed some light on this for me. I bought this 1849 yesterday at auction for what I considered to be a great price. Once I got it home I noticed that the "Colt's Patent" is hand cut into the frame instead of being stamped. I've seen this on engraved guns, but this one... Colt 1849 Question ..read more

I got away from shooting my Colt SAA's. I was more focused on my Colt 45 auto and S&W 357's. Today I took my new to me Colt SAA 45 to the range and the first 5 shots I could cover with a half dollar. It's a 45 colt with 5 1/2" barrel and I think it dates to around 2016. I was shooting Fiocchi 225gr lead bullets and I followed up with some Federal 225 gr JSP. Very pleased with my Colt SAA. Pic is before shooting. Clean up tomorrow. Serial # S73xxxA. Fun shooting. BTW Iam the first to shoot... Back to the Colt SAA ..read more

Hello All, I am an old colt fan looking into purchasing a new Gold Cup in .45 I like the 70’s series without the 80s series creep. Trying to decide on the GCNM or the GCT. End goal is the best accuracy. My guns in the past like the bullseye with about 5 grains. Like I said been playing with 9 MM, but want to start fresh with a new Gold Cup in 45 as a project. Any words of wisdom on the newer Colts ..read more
