Smith and Wesson Model 29-6 Review
Indiana Gun Owners » Handguns
by Trapper Jim

And now comes my review of the Famous S&W Model 29 Model 29 | Smith & Wesson (smith-wesson.com). More specifically, the Model 29-6. Many of you know that I grew up with revolvers. Back in the day, it is no secret that my friend, the late Denny Reichard and I wore many of these 29’s out shooting hard cast lead bullets on top of a case full of 2400. As a side note he would chastise me for liking the .41 Magnum as it was a wussy caliber. I can’t print what he really called it then. Look... Read more ..read more

Pepperbox revolvers, I pick them up when a good deal presents itself even though they aren't practical by today's standards. In their day though they were good sellers for protection guns, many manufactured by the various namesake companies of Ethan Allen. Most all work the same, double action smooth bore percussion guns, they have a simple and reliable mechanism and provided fast, short range firepower. You can find some excellent videos on the internet of CA shooters getting hits on... Read more ..read more

Taurus TH-10 problems

I've been looking at the Taurus TH10 handgun and I noticed that there were some who were having trouble with a stove pipe jam. Now some of them attributed to the more powerful Buffalo bore ammunition but I got to wondering if it may be nothing more than the magazine. Years ago I bought a new Ruger 22, Mark four lite I believe and discovered that they had shipped the wrong magazines with it, so I called Ruger and they sent me the correct magazines. One time when I went to the range I took... Read more ..read more

Looking to spend a dollar or two on a custom 1911 Government .45 ACP. I am looking a Les Baer though a Ed Brown looks better in fit and finish. Wilson has turned into a high dollar prediction gun. I know there are a few good custom gunsmiths out there building 1911's but Baer and Brown I have used and shot. Which or who would you use to build your dream gun ..read more

As a lot of you know I have a pretty nice collection of original Bob Marvel guns! I found this one years ago and the owner finally agreed to sell me it. It’s documented with paper work from Bob that this is the first of three guns that Bob Designed that Nighthawk modeled their “Bob Marvel” model after. It’s a beautiful pistol with matching holster and mag carrier. I will say, I haven’t had a chance to get into the internals, but the gun with the new carbon fiber grips I tossed on it sure... Came across this one and it really spoke to me. One of the Grand Old man’s (Elmer Keith) last magnum handgun calibers and one he loved and its true intent was for law enforcement but got upped by S&W. This is an early S serial numbered model and will look up the production date shortly. Below is a great description…. The Smith & Wesson Model 58, introduced in 1964, marks a significant chapter in the storied history of firearms manufacture by Smith & Wesson. This model was designed to meet... Read more ..read more

That’s 1863!!! Picked this up recently…. Advertised as an Italian repro 1861 Army. Well I knew there was no such thing but clicked on it anyways. Looked thru the pics and as I was doing so the first thing that hit me was the illegible serial numbers. Something you don’t see on Italian repro….. but something you see on wartime Colts as I have been made to understand each number was hand stamped individually. Then I got to the pic of the barrel address….. that belongs to no other than Colonel... Read more ..read more
