Since I posted about my Police Service Six here are some pics of my first Ruger revolver. I bought this one from a gun store that I knew the owner of because we both had an interest in the demolition derby hobby. I primarily ran GM cars in derby, but I had bought a 1974 Chrysler New Yorker from a neighbor because it was cheap $185, and I knew it was a good derby car. Now this was in the early 90s so you could pick up old gas guzzlers pretty cheap then. I was telling the fellow about the car... Ruger Security Six 6 ..read more

I stopped by a nearby Pawn Shop this morning looking at guitars, found nothing I was hoping for and spotted an older H&R 22 revolver that's been collecting dust in their case for well over a year, so I did some negotiating using cash to drop the already low price and brought it home. I like the old H&R's; inexpensive, they shoot straight and reliably, plus they remind me of my youth. I plan to clean it up next week or so, but I wanted to get a better light through the barrel and cylinder... Anyone happen to be sitting on a H&R 22LR Model 649 cylinder ..read more

Hello, I am a fan of S&W revolvers, but I also am a Ruger guy so I have some of them too. Here is a really clean Police Service Six .357 that I bought a few years ago from the original owner. He shot it a few times when he first bought it, then put it back in the box and never shot it again. I bought it sight unseen from pictures, when it arrived at my FFL he was very impressed with the condition and felt I got a good buy at $500 shipped I had paid. I sent for the Ruger letter and it was... Ruger Police Service Six ..read more

I have an opportunity to get one of these, has 8” and 6” barrel, box, tools, papers. I’m not familiar with when they were good or bad and so on, but it’s listed for $1,300. Is that a good deal? Are these good revolvers? It sure looks good ..read more

Rossi Revolver Question

One of my close friends died recently and she gave me one of his guns. It's a Rossi M971 .357 Magnum, says Made in Brazil Interarms Alexandria Virginia. Serial #F271106. 2 1/2 inch barrel with a ported end. She said he had only fired it a few times, and it appears to be in spotless shape. I've heard decent and bad things about Rossi handguns. Is it worth anything? Relative value? I already have a S&W Model 66, so will probably sell it. A fair starting point would be good to know. Thanks if... Rossi Revolver Question ..read more

A couple of months ago, I bought a little "I" frame, third model hand ejector in 32 S&W Long. Bad mistake, as it's lef me down the primrose path of the 32's. It didn't help that about this same time Smith and Wesson announced the new Lipsey's J-frame 32. So I'm curious about the 32. On paper, and video, people make a pretty convincing argument for it in a J-fame size gun. More rounds, lower recoil. Even the lowly 32 S&W Long shows some potential as a SD cartridge, and the newer 32... Not From Ali-Babba's ..read more

Just returned home from picking it up at my LGS. I am a little surprised at the heft, it feels about as heavy as an Uberti or Pietta 1873. The quality looks very good but not great and has what looks like a black finish, not the blued finish. The roll marks could be more crisp and some a filled with white (paint?). The action is super smooth and locks into place easily with good audible clicks. Half cock is also smooth and crisp rotating the cylinder clockwise only again with crisp...
