A few years back these pistols were still fairly affordable. While cruising on the Seadoo, I stopped in at Bass Pro Shops for a late lunch. They had a Fathers Day sale, plus more discounts if qualified for a BPS credit card. I qualified which gave me 10% off any purchase. There was also $100.00 off most of the centerfire pistols. The cost savings would bring home a 250 round box of ammo with the gun purchase. How could you say no? I liked the look and feel of this Ruger SR40. The grip did... Opinions on Ruger SR40 ..read more

Why no love for da/sa hammer pistols?

1911s SA still seem to be in favor but da/sa pistols seem to be passe. Everything is striker fired. CZ75 seem to be favored by competitive shooters though. To me a good da/sa pistol is just like a sa if you want to **** it plus if you don't you have a DA go bang capacity. That is also the original double strike capacity if you get a light primer strike although some or most would recommend ejecting the dud round. Trying to find a compact polymer double stack da/sa pistol. All I have found... Why no love for da/sa hammer pistols ..read more

appears that the GP100 ($900) is a fantastic gun at a decent price, but if you were tight on money, would you rather have the EAA ($420)? Do any of y'all have experience with BOTH revolvers for a direct comparison? thanks for any insights ..read more

Ruger Security 9 : FIRST LOOK.

This is a Lipsey's Exclusive Edition, which confused me because it wasn't advertised as such. You won't find it on the Ruger site unless you dig. It is the only one they make with a Stainless finish slide. One of my sons has the Ruger American 9mm, which I like shooting a lot. This seemed very similar for 1/2 the price and I got it with a special sale at my local range. (Range USA) Out of the box the rear sight was a bit off but it was easily fixed... This was left to me from my dad. I never knew he bought this one pistol. It is an early serial number and mfg in the late 20's. Of all the toys I have shot with my dad over the years, this pistol was never one of them. I cleaned it up and am looking forward to shooting it in the very near future. This pistol is fairly small. More so than you might think from the pic. It has an octogen barrel that is six inches long. Is also double action ..read more
