Christmas is almost here! That means that hundreds of families will be getting a puppy as a gift for the holiday. But before they do, they should really think twice about getting a puppy for Christmas. As a dog mom, let me explain why.  As I sit here writing this post, Archie (my 2 year old puppy) has bombarded himself onto my lap. I am now typing with a 75lb orange pitbull puppy under my arm. Not even the coronavirus. Keeping things like restaurants and bars closed during the pandemic is understandable because of the close proximity to other people. But hiking is a great way to spend time with friends and maintain distance without having to wear a stupid face mask.  It was humid in Brooklyn and the hottest day yet at 91 degrees, but we’d been inside long enough after the virus and all of ou ..read more

If you love fall as much as we do in this house, you’re probably already thinking about all-things Halloween. Not only are you thinking about your own costumes, but you’re also trying to think of some awesome Halloween costume ideas for your dogs.  After checking my usual places for dog costumes, I felt uninspired. Having two large dogs, it can be hard to find a great costume that actually fits them. Last year I had to take advantage of Archie’s orange fur by ordering him a lion’s mane from Amazon. For Labor Day weekend this year, we decided to take a roadtrip to The Sunshine State! It’s been a few years since I’ve been to Florida, and this was the first time going with both dogs.
