I'm sharing an excerpt here in this post, and I'm also making it available as a podcast episode using an excerpt from the audiobook version. GE Aerospace CEO Larry Culp on CNBC: A Little Better Every Day
Lean Blog

It's inspiring to hear a CEO talk about Lean and continuous improvement concepts, as Larry Culp, Chairman and CEO of GE Aerospace, did recently on CNBC. “We just need to get a little bit better every day.” In Japanese (and in Lean management), we often refer to that as kaizen. Watch the video He also spoke about focusing on “safety first” and “problem-solving over finger-pointing” — things that I think are key to the Lean […] The post GE Aerospace CEO Larry Culp on CNBC: A Little Better Every Day by Mark Graban appeared first at Lean Blog ..read more

Are Your Charts Leading You to the Wrong Conclusions? Data is everywhere in today's organizations, but are we using it in the most effective way? Many businesses rely on traditional bar charts and color-coded dashboards to monitor their performance. But what if these visuals are giving us a false sense of security–or worse, distracting us from real opportunities for improvement? During a recent visit to an organization, I encountered charts that looked helpful at first […] The post Beyond the Color Code: Using Process Behavior Charts for Deeper Insights into Key Performance Indicators by Mark ..read more

Here's part of a video that I recorded for a Lean healthcare event in Asia. I sound congested from seasonal allergies. I'm sorry about that, but there was a deadline to hit. Creating Psychological Safety for Continuous Improvement: A Leadership Imperative One of the most important, yet often overlooked, foundations for successful Lean and continuous improvement efforts is psychological safety. It's not just a buzzword; it's the difference between a culture where people feel comfortable […] The post Psychological Safety is the Foundation for Continuous Improvement [Video] by Mark Graban appeare ..read more

Speaking at the Lean Institute Brazil’s Health Summit — Aided by AI Translation

I had a great experience last week at the Lean Institute Brasil‘s annual Lean Healthcare Summit. They had a live human interpreter translate my talk into Portuguese. Somebody estimated that about 70% of the audience would be listening in English. One new experience for me was their use of AI to create a real-time Portuguese transcription that was projected as I spoke. This also improves accessibility for those who are hearing impaired. Curious about the […] The post Speaking at the Lean Institute Brazil’s Health Summit — Aided by AI Translation by Mark Graban appeared first at Lean Blog ..read more
