Junk Lincoln 140 C ??

So I have a Lincoln 140 c has infinite amp and wire speed adjustment about 10 yrs old. Never worked correctly like my old Lincoln 100 or 125 amp with infinite settings. Tried big and small rolls of various brands mig/ and flux core wire, currently have .035 flux core in it. Changed out feed rollers multiple times, they are the knurled ones currently, cleaned out liner played with all settings infinite number of times. I'm at a loss. It will produce a decent arc initially than seems like... Read more ..read more

Cross-filling welding bottles ?

I am <not> interested in filling a little oxy-acet welding bottle from a big bottle directly at full pressure due to safety issues (I understand you need high pressure steel braided hoses, a pressure gauge between the two, etc., etc., though I understand people do it, called "cross-filling" ?). But I did wonder if its possible to fill a little bottle from a big bottle through the big bottle's regulator set to max pressure (80 ? whatever) ? I realize you wouldn't get much of a fill, but is... Read more ..read more

New welder? You just got into welding? If you don't actually have anything that needs welding - then here are some sample projects. https://packaged-media.redd.it/2e7fllo3pusc1/pb/m2-res_638p.mp4?m=DASHPlaylist.mpd&v=1&e=1712437200&s=110b9fdf3d0d8830a336ff610b7e898cf95fb000#t=0 ..read more

Cantilever gate, 18' opening, 27-foot overall metal selection

We are looking at building a new cantilever gate for more privacy and security around the place. Wondering if anyone in the community on here has any advice for wall thickness on the frame. I have two plans I am working with in my head right now, plan one uses 2x2 square tubing all the way around and plan 2 uses 2x4 or 2x6 square tube on the lower and 2 x 2 around the rest of the frame. I have welded 2" "uprights" every 4 feet to maintain the structure of the cantilever with 3/4 tubing for... Read more ..read more

MIG Welder for Beginner/Light Use

I’m fascinated by welding… I do a fair amount of repair and thought I’d try to learn the basics. Removing a stuck bolt, repairing a mower deck… I’m sure they have 1,000 uses. Eastwood has one on sale right now, seems well received. Unsure what to look for… 110v is all my house has right now ..read more

Recently I have developed a need to weld a broken fender on my tractor. I did a search and ran across some old threads on this. I'll make a guess and think that most likely the technology to even do that has changed a bit since those were posted. Does anyone on here have any experience with a commercially available kit? My SIL collected most of the pieces after backing the tractor into the wall while cleaning out the shed but judging by the pieces in hand, I am thinking he didn't get them... Read more ..read more

Crack in wood stove

My 15 year old wood stove has a hairline crack radiating out from the upper right hand corner of the door frame. It is about 3" long and barely visible. The metal is 1/8" thick steel. I have previously welded this crack a few years ago when it was shorter. I am wondering if this will just keep happening or is there a permanent fix. As I recall, I ground the old crack out before welding it using GMAW but that did not end up being a permanent fix ..read more

Everlast 210STL Users Out There?

Hey Folks! Let me start by saying that I have already e-mailed tech support on this, but I was curious if I’m the Lone Ranger with this problem. I have a 210STL that I bought a couple of years ago, and when I first bought it, it was bullet proof. I don’t even know how many consecutive days I ran that thing with no problems other than the user. Then, all of a sudden, I began having an issue where some controls wouldn’t work at all, and then the amperage adjustment would just change... Read more ..read more

Bought a new Lincoln Mig 211i

I decided to buy a new Lincoln Power Mig 211i. I previously used a Lincoln LN25 Pro, that I would run off my Lincoln 305G engine driven welder. I don't use a Mig rig often and I found the LN25 to be finicky to get dialed-in just right and I frequently had wire feed issues. It was also loud and not enjoyable having the engine driven welder running when I'm just piddling on building deer feeders, hog traps and deer blinds out in my shop. The LN25 is really meant to be a job site rig for... Read more ..read more

I have an embarrassment of welding machines. Yesterday an old friend gave me a welder he hasn't used for over 5 years and he knew I would use it. The machine in question is a Lincoln SP-100. I already had the SP-125 Plus machine. As near as I can tell the machines are identical. I took the SP-100 cover off today to check for insect nests and the like and the guts look just like my SP-125 Plus machine. I bought my SP-125 Plus machine about 20 years ago. It was used. In an auto body shop... Read more ..read more
