Harbor Freight Titanium 125 Flux Core Welder

I've always been a stick welder and decided to try a wire feed welder. This 125/120v is an entry level piece and I'm getting the hang of it. I was hoping it would do spot welding on sheet metal but even at it's lowest amperage setting, it just blows right through. Is that the way it is or is there a technique I need to learn ..read more

Cracked housing on tc29

I have the infamous tc29d with hst and super steer. My tractor cracked in half lift a load of dirt. It has 2000 hours. No loose bolts. I took it apart and welded it. It lasted for a couple months then cracked in a different spot. I’m forced to replace the housing but curious how everyone has reinforced their frame to prevent this from happening again. I do not use my tractor as a dozer and take care of it ..read more

Wife went to an estate sale, dragged me along as she needed help loading some things in trailer. Saw some things (like a Bostich pneumatic floor nailer that looked like it had only put down a single room of flooring.... for $50) Anyway, saw this and got this along with another box, primarily of hoses, some new in bags maybe one old one? Probably 5 pair of hoses all...... wait for it $35 Question one is, may I presume I did ok? (I'm fine if I got hosed) My real question is... Read more ..read more

i posted this to rural living before realizing that this forum exists... http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/rural-living/327064-steel-diy-fire-pit-advice.html we've been through a few commercially-produced cheap fire pits - they're junk and just don't last. i'm looking for something bigger and a bit more utilitarian for the next round. after doing some shopping around i found that there does seem to be a niche market for heavy duty fire pits but they are expensive and for... Bronze Brazing Nuts to Plaque
TractorByNet » Welding

I have a neighbor friend who is an artist that works in bronze. Every once in a while he will bring over a bronze plaque and ask me to weld 10-24 nuts on the back so he can mount them in a wood frame he makes by routing out a recess. So far I have done about 10 of these, a couple at a time. I have a stick welder and an O/A set and I am just a door yard welder. I don't have much chance to experiment on a method and am nervous about screwing up his piece. So far the best method I have found is... Read more ..read more

HF Titanium plasma cutter 45 amp and 60 amp

Sold my Hypertherm CNC 60 amp plasma cutter and bought a Titanium 60 amp CNC interface plasma cutter. I did that because the Hyper Therm consumables are stupid expensive (and getting even more expensive), while the HF Titanium consumables are much more reasonably priced. Besides, the Titanium plasma cutter is priced substantially less. I did take the 'Motor Guard' 5 micron pre filter off the Hyper Therm and installed it on the Titanium unit. It's vitally important with any Plasma Cutter... Read more ..read more

Bought a portable oxy/acy setup and need help understanding

I wound up with this oxy/acy setup and know nothing about them. I was hoping others could fill me in. I already have a large acy/oxy setup so I am slightly clued it but I just use it for heating and cutting. My use is strictly ag equipment repairs and rebuild. In the pictures below I can see acy written on one of the dual tanks so the other must be oxygen. I'll presume this is for minor cutting, heating and brazing? Can I add check valves to this? Are these refillable at a normal gas dealer... Read more ..read more

Fixing a New Holland weld
TractorByNet » Welding

How would fix this busted weld? This is the loader support bracket on a New Holland Workmaster 60. I think it's been broken for a while but I never noticed it. I was thinking remove the loader and pull the bracket off the tractor frame so I don't have to weld upside down. I'll be using an old 200 amp Lincoln with .035 ER70S-6 wire and 75/25 argon ..read more
