Looking at all the news around Daniel Riccardo and the new chassis he got in China, but I am still not sure why or how the chassis would be a performance differentiator. Obviously a damaged or cracked chassis would introduce flex and movement, but that would be a safety concern, so it would have to be changed, and it doesn’t seem like that was the case. What other factor can the chassis have on performance?

I recently won a competition with Aston Martin for one of their chassis plates, for the AMR24, which arrived today, but I know nothing about them. Can anyone enlighten me as to what they are for, where they are positioned on the cars, or how one would find information on the actual plate/number,such as if, for example, it was on a car during a race, whose car it came off etc.
This particular one is numbered 002/100. It's engraved now, but is rough and scuffed indicating it was used on a car at some point (I believe)?
Thanks in advance.

Lots of effort being made to close up the field, with the sliding CFD and wind tunnel restrictions.
Could Parc Fermé regulations be used to achieve something similar? A window where Parc Fermé opens to change setup etc. between quali and the race, with the length of time you can work on your car inversely proportional to either grid position or championship position.
My understanding is that a big reason for the regulations in the first place was to save the mechanics from pulling all-nighters to rebuild a car from quali spec into race spec every race, so a limited time window would seem to a ..read more

Hello! working on my final project for data visualization and I'm hoping to see lap sector data for either this season or last from either F1 or F2. I thought it might be cool to look at fastest sectors, comparing like sectors, building optimal laps, etc as a way of comparing drivers. Would anyone know where to find such data? I found some general race data on Kaggle but I think there could be more out there. Thank you!

assuming constant conditions and no track evolution, essentially the question is how much would they be able to improve their times or are they already on the absolute limit?

2 identical cars are going into turn one at Monza. They'll both be braking down to the same speed. 1 has better brakes so will be braking later but essentially harder The other will have a longer braking zone.
Which generates more electrical energy?
Hope I've explained that right. I'm interested to know what the difference would be and what parameters affect how much is regenerated
Thank you

These 2 questions popped up in my head while I was watching videos of Lotus 98T and 2014+ F1 cars...

Picture provided by Albert Fabrega via X. As there can be seen Ferrari did not rush their rumored sidepod upgrade from Imola to Miami.

Watching his old footage and noticing how absurdly fast he shifted that it looked like he was shifting with a sequential gearbox, but all the McLaren F1 cars they all have full manual transmissions, I thought recently that he could lift the throttle and shift because I saw a technique to do that. But I don't know
