I’m 11 weeks with my first pregnancy currently and I have been struggling in the first trimester with hypos due to nausea and food aversions, and my HbA1c came back as 27 (4.7) at the moment which counts as a non diabetic result. My new endocrinologist says this is way too low which is understandable as the control I have right now is very tight, however I thought that it was the general idea during pregnancy? Until last year I was at a different hospital and the endocrinologist there... Read more ..read more

Hi, I’m currently 20 weeks pregnant and type 1 diabetic on an insulin pump (control IQ) and Dexcom G6. I always thought I’d have to have a c-section being diabetic but after a recent trip to the obstetrician I understand this isn’t the case. They’ve spoken about an induction from 37 weeks dependent on size of the baby. They have also spoken about ansliding scale but I’m not entirely sure what this means and being taken in for an emergency c-section should anything not be right with... Read more ..read more

Experiences of type 1 in pregnancy

I am not really sure what I’m hoping to get out of posting, maybe some reassurance or experiences on type 1 and pregnancy/labour/babies as I’m looking to conceive and feeling pretty anxious about it all! I was diagnosed with diabetes in my first pregnancy so don’t have any relevant experiences on managing diabetes in pregnancy. Diagnosis, labour and the time after was pretty traumatic in a lot of ways. I’m on the wrong side of 30 now and my husband and I have always wanted a second baby... Read more ..read more

Basal insulin still high after IVF miscarriage?

Hi. Before IVF my basal was 18. During IVF and 7-week pregnancy it went up to 32. I’m now more than 3 weeks post-miscarriage and insulin needs still at 32. They said hormones could be up for 3 weeks after the miscarriage. Has anyone else experienced this, that their insulin resistance didn’t go back to normal? IVF Dr says she wants to see it come back down. My weight is back to normal, so that’s not why. Diabetes Drs don’t seem to know much about IVF and miscarriage. Appreciate any help as... Happy New Year I am 8 weeks pregnant with my 3rd and in turmoil of the right thing to do. Unplanned with hba1c above what it should be and no folic acid. I am 40.5. I have an 8 and 5 year old both planned with great hba1c and folic acid. But both were preterm at 35 and 30weeks. Those pregnancies were stressful enough being planned. My stress levels are through the roof and I honestly don't think I can make any informed decision. Not sure what I'm looking for here tbh ..read more

Hi all, I'm type 1 and this is my second pregnancy, I'm about 7 weeks. This one wasn't quite as planned as the first, but my hba1c was still good at 45 and I had been taking folic acid for a couple of months because we were going to start trying for baby no.2 in a few months... My bgs have been pretty good, however, the other night my libre told me I was 2.9 and going down, so I had my usual orange juice, fell asleep, then woke up in the night at nearly 20! I spent the next few hours... Read more ..read more

Hi all, Just trying to get an idea of the average delivery dates for us diabetics! What was everyone’s experience with this? Were you allowed to go beyond 37 weeks? I am nearly 26 weeks now, just started growth scans and everything is good so far. Hospital is very happy with my Hba1c and TIR. Baby is right on the 50th percentile at the moment. I know the next few months are going to be the toughest for blood sugar control, but hoping to keep everything on track! The consultant mentioned... Read more ..read more

Hi I'm 32, TYPE 2 and on toujeo and trurapi insulin. I've been with the hospital diabetes specialists for over a yr and finally (in 2.5 months time) have the green light to try for a family (TTC). (We will be first time parents) I still have other stuff to try and achieve in this time (especially as much weightloss as possible) but want to be as prepared as possible. I don't have any type 2 friends who've had kids I'm so lost. I need tips, and any guidance, experiences to help me know... Read more ..read more

Hi all So this pregnancy malarkey continues to include little snippets of worry. I know babies with diabetic mamas are renowned for being "on the bigger side" but the reality is starting to hit home a bit and the worry that I could be doing more is simmering in the background. At 26 weeks I've only just started to receive my measuring scans and already I'm above the "norm" and baby is roughly 2lb 4oz (the app I use says typically babies weigh about 1.7lb at this point). I have tried... Read more ..read more
