I have a feeling that the veneers we use (or at least the ones I use) are way too thin for this type of treatment. I suspect that even the paper backed types would also be too thin, and this is from experience having sanded through the veneer on a woodworking project several years ago. If you do attempt this I would love to hear about the results.
However, I do like your idea of 'finishing' the veneer before pressing but I wonder if that would impact the flexibility of the veneer or its adhesion to the ski...definitely worth experimenting on my next pair.

that's what I think too but having the opinion of people who have used this system is better than a big disappointment afterwards!
thank you for the answer.

Hello Alan,
a 1.5mm gap is definitely way too much, especially for a race ski. It seems the one ski is either a faulty production or it was damaged somehow. I would definitely send the skis back to the reseller and get your money back. I am pretty sure Atomic will back up this opinion.
I would not try straightening the ski - if you can undo the twist it will mean that you break reinforcement fibres etc.
Best regards
Philipp

Anyone ever try a “ceruse finish” on their veneer skis or boards? Like this guitar:

If you have, I would love to see your pics and hear your experiences and/or tips. I love the look. My thought is to do the finish on the veneer before pressing so the epoxy doesn’t seal the grain, and maybe use paper backed veneer because it’s a bit thicker and sturdier than the unbacked I usually buy. I have no clue if the grain will be deep enough on veneer though. I imagine the other challenge will be keeping the finish nice during post-press shaping, sanding ..read more

Hi, this cricut machine looks interesting, wonder if it's good as it looks.

For me, it works well. Pretty simple to use, no need to have extra skills
Hi,
just posted a similar question because I didn't search for all the right words. Maybe you can give a bit more details of what you are cutting with your plotter.
Thanks.

Hey everyone,
long time no post from me.
I'm thinking about build some more skis for me and the family. Has anyone of you ever used a cutting plotter like Silhouette Cameo or CriCut for cutting the base material? There are blades for material of up to 3mm. Just not sure how well they cope with material of up to 2m long.
Any input welcome.
Cheers,
Sebastian

With a vacuum setup there probably won't be any imprints from the mold as the pressure is pretty low.
PS: for translations deepl.com often works better than google

Hello,
after several years of use in a vacuum bag my current form is starting to age badly. So I'm going to make a vacuum table and I find Jozerr's system very ingenious, I only wonder if when unmoulding the sole is smooth or if there are slight waves on each support point.
I thank in advance users of this type of system who can give me feedback.
sorry for my english i'm french and i use google translate!

Hi everyone, hoping you may have an answer for me
I have a pair of new never used (never waxed apart from from the factory wax) bindings never been fitted, Atomic revoshock super g skis 212 length, that have a twist tip to tail.
When the skis are stood upright and placed together gently at the base then brought together at the tips, there is a 1.5mm gap on one side. The twist is all on one ski. When placed on a flat surface the ski is held away from the surface by the two highest points.
I contacted Atomic who advised me to contact the supplier.
