Hello All, I'm working on a Zenith model 410 http://www.nostalgiaair.org/PagesByModel/817/M0024817.pdf The problem is the 57 AGC amp tube. It does not seem to be conducting and the voltages, except for filament, are all off according to the chart on the Riders schematic. Instead of -40 VDC on the plate, I have -3.2 VDC. Cathode and suppressor are tied together and should read -75VDC but mine reads -135VDC. The resistor 65-243, 18K ohms, gets very warm. I have checked and double checked ..read more

This is my critique of the events and is my own opinions. This year again it was back in the fairgrounds at Chehalis WA. (THANKFULLY!!!) The number of vendors was sadly quite limited in comparison to past years, maybe 1/3 the vendors from what I saw at 8:00-9:00. Maybe the predicted 90+ heat had a part in it. I was quite disappointed in the limited number of items for sale also. I was also told that someone had stolen most of the direction signs to the swap meet also. (!!) I then ..read more

It is critical that you should pull the back off your clothes dryer every couple of years and vacuum out the heating coil area, fan area, and any other areas you can, ducting, including the lint trap area. My dryer heat failed and I purchased a new heater coil, and the parts man said that many house fires were caused by lint buildup in a dryer. I found CHARRED lint in the heating coil area of my dryer. A thorough cleaning and vacuum job resulted in finding a lot of lint (It had been 30 ..read more

Hello there all,
I have been working on a Philco mystery control set 40-217 and have hit a standstill as I cannot get my stepper and it's relays to operate correctly . I am now looking for a parts chassis with a operational stepper unit or just the stepper unit itself. I am hoping someone may have just what I need and I can finish up this project.
Thank you!!

This is a problem I found several times (Way too many, IMHO) over the years: Tuner dead. First verify it IS a tuner failure. After subbing tubes and it is still dead- Be sure to PULL THE TUNER, and check for 3 things: 1- Are the correct tubes being used for the RF amp and Osc? 2. Did someone bend the tube pins over or break one off, possibly still in the socket? It is always good practice to use a pin straightener on miniature tubes to be sure the pins are straight. 3. Actually pull ..read more
