I put this together in an hour, have new rotator and it’s going up 32’. If I’d paid attention to the manual I could have had it tuned in 5 minutes, but no, my way took an hour and still wasn’t right.

I have some terrible rfi on my radios , I have a Anytone 6666, Uniden 980 and a Cobra 148 GTL , all of them use the same antenna[ 5/8 Sirio 27 Ground plane] up 52' to the top. The noise I think is power line noise from the lines in front of our house. Probably about 200' from my radios. At times it sounds like someone is welding on my desk right in front of me.I call it a welding noise as it buzzes real loud for about 4 sec then off for about 4 sec then back on again.this goes on continous 24/7. I have hooked the radios up to a 12 volt battery and turned the main breaker off in the ..read more

Hello all! I'm new here, but not to radios or electronics. I was made familiar with CB by one of my Grandfathers who had one in his vehicle when I was a child. When I went to the Marines I was a radar repairman. As you'd probably imagine, we used a variety of radios for our communications. Some were very basic and some were very advanced. After the Marines I traveled for work for a little while, and my Grandfather gave me both of his CBs to use. I never chatted with them very much even when I was traveling but they were there just in case. During my professional career, I was on the airwaves p ..read more

thank you and I am super glad to be part of the group. I have been in CB since 1974 and love it ..read more

Getting back in the game, Its been years. I still have my old big stick.. I will use my 30 yr old HR2510
as my base station for now and was wondering what the best antenna choices are these days for DX ect. I want to do it once and correct the first time. Cost is not a big concern, But what is a concern is the eye sore that would potentially be on my house. Less visible choices would be great. I heard of a type that just lays flat on the roof and just uses long lenghs of coax ? is this true and are those any good ? I would also like to be able to run unlimited power thru the antenna if I chose ..read more

Hello all. Been out of CB radio for about 20 years or so. Joined mostly to get a feel for what the "state" of CB is these days. And maybe ask a technical question or two. Gave away my last mobile CB in the early 2000s, when mobile CB stated to drop off and I thought the "next big thing" for mobile-to-mobile or mobile-to-base comms was going to be FRS/GMRS. Well, that never happened.
FIRST Mobile Rig: Johnson Messenger 123A, circa late 1970s, just before 40 channel became a thing.
