Maybe they're supporting the Emergency Program. Other emerg pgms have done something similar with the local radio clubs in the event their primary comms fail.

ok edit I found what IC has allocated for simplex use in 700 band
6.25 spacing or 12.5 kz spacing all
775.000 to 776.00 simplex
does that mean its whats in ecomm radio ?? its a starting point
it does correspond with what we know
770 -773 at least are repeater out

yes for the simplx no confirmned , the unfortunate reality is there are like 5 people I can count on my fingers that are rabid freq seekers including myself , but I avoided that area last summer like the plague
in the previous Harris/Aegis Ge Comm radios the FD's had 800 mhz simplex in them I found a bunch of the FD's Vanc,Richmond Delta, New West etc
id imagine that the ENC radios do but they will all be ENC simplex (fuk you Ecomm)
i have found CBSA on 700 simplex but its ENC
IC has set aside a plan for repeaters and simplex use , unfortunately the licenses have never seen the light of day so ..read more

I've been wanting to get into ham radio for awhile and now I've got my dad and a few friends interested as well. We are all studying for our test now.
I picked up a couple cheap Radios so we can listen to our local repeaters and catch a couple nets. Local traffic and the like.
Found a local club that does coffee every Sunday so we plan to drop in there and meet some of the voices from the radio! And now I'm noticing some antennas on houses near mine which is pretty awesome!

Hello everyone! I am just getting started in my journey of ham radio. Reading the documentation now. Hoping to do my test in the next couple of weeks.
I wanted to share a little app/webpage I built to help practice for the exam. I made it for myself but I figured why not share it.
Pulls questions and callsigns directly from the government of canada's web page.
The webpage is: https://canham.ca

I vaguely remember seeing ECOMM's APX6000XE (7/800mhz) portables with stubby 700/800 antenna being used during West Kelowna wildfire last year by couple of lower mainland fire departments that were sent up (Coquitlam Fire, etc). Can't seem to find any photos of it now, but they had it on their chest packs.
Do ECOMM radios have simplex/conventional repeater channels for cases like these? West Kelowna is obviously out of ECOMM's NGRP range. Are there any identified frequencies as of right now?
