I have been collecting Xtls since I first stated flying with A M radio a long time ago but now with 2.4Gig & F M there's some confusion with "matching" Xtls: typically my green tagged 36.370 RX does not whant to "talk" to my green tagged TX 36.70 Xtl ? There seems to be a "oils ain't oils" condition here somewhere. Is there a simple rule of thumb to be aware of here. Apart from not swapping Xtls around which we have all done ..read more

Servo recommendation - Small glider

Sticking a couple of servos in the wings on a SLEC Coyote, first proper model so I didn't think to change the build slightly to incorporate screwed in servo mounts and instead did as the instructions said and glued them in. This means once the servos are in the only way to remove them is to cut the covering.   I need a recommendation on mini servos that aren't overly expensive but are reliable, I know I don't need digital servos and I don't think they need to be metal geared as the model isn't very big. What would you guys advise?   I do have a load of HXT900 MICRO SERVO 1.6KG / 0.12 ..read more

New Power Servos

I have some unused but several years old New Power XL-37HB servos. Does anyone have any experience/ opinion as to reliability of these? The reason I ask is that I had a model fitted with a different larger version of New Power servos, they operated for about 1 hour then one of them suddenly decided to shift the mid point quite significantly. Fortunately spotted it before flying, I've scrapped it and replaced the others as a precaution as it is a valuable model (to me ..read more

Trouble with Hitec HS85 Servos

My winter projects have been rescuing and servicing my collection one by one from the loft. After 4 years up there, my Bullet areobat has developed servo issues. 3 out of 5 of the HS85s have just stopped working and just sit there buzzing and getting hot. Though not all at once but after running a soak test. I now won't trust any of them. I took the bottom of a couple of them to find they worked if I pressed on the feedback pot but as soon as I release the pressure they revert to form. I'm wondering if heat cycling has got to them, as it gets quite hot up there in the summer and cold in ..read more

Good evening chaps.   Please would someone in the know give some "enlightenment" as to v761 protocol please.   A basic explanation for the protocol and where I could get a "copy" to try/experiment with please.   I know it may be a complex system and I have some in depth research to do as in comparable "multi protocol" tx's etc., Not to mention tx costs etc..   Thanks in advance, rich ..read more

Servo Grease

Have some older servo, nylon and metal gear that I’d like to service.   When it comes to greasing the gears, is it worth paying a bit extra for dedicated servo grease (like that from Hitec) or will generic white lithium be just as good?   Cheers,   Nigel ..read more

Some very interesting comments are being raised on Toto's thread about his model aircrafts "refit".   To prevent more drift on his thread, interesting as it is, could a more "in depth" airing of views take place in this thread.   My cheapo internet phone will not "copy and paste", my photos are crap and I still need to learn how to insert quotes, so perhaps a good starting point fir this thread and topic would be what our "Bible" says about this subject ( range tests ), the bmfa guidance book ?   However, may I start by saying "a stitch in time could save £900, and a huge court ..read more

Radiomaster Noob

So I fly mostly Spektrum and apart from the prices suddenly skyrocketing for my chosen RX's (AR 410 & AR 620) I've been very pleased with it. I do have a few planes with different protocols in them and these seem to be the sort of "Toy" models with the inbuild RX and Gyro and they come with an awful TX. To improve my experience with these models I have ordered the Radiomaster Zorro with 4-in-1 module which should also be able to bind with my spektrum stuff, if need be.   My question is: What Radiomaster/Other Receivers would you experienced folks recommend if I decide to build some of ..read more
