At the time of typing this, Bauer Media Ireland are in the process of buying south-east youth station Beat 102-103. This means that Bauer will own all the Irish youth stations, which also include Cork's Red FM, Dublin's Spin1038, the south-west licensee Spin SW and the licensee covering a large area between the north-east and the west/north-west iRadio. just heard of the passing of Alf McCarthy. Always appreciated his Late Date presentation over the years. A very fine presenter, who had an unbelievable connection with the “ Late Date Family”. on several occasions I emailed him with comments / requests, and he nearly always obliged. A 26 year old name John Morley has taken over the midmorning current affairs show on Galway Bay Fm. From the very small bit I've heard of him, he seems to be an old head on young shoulders/Barry Lenihan clone type of lad but I'd still seriously question giving the gig to someone at least 10 years younger than the iradio schedule of DJS.
